Not a sport in my opinion.

Aerobic activity. If you went to the local park and slammed a racketball against the wall and chased it for 55 mins... took a break and chased it for 1 hour and 5 mins, are you taking part in a sport, or participating in an aerobic activity?Skull:yea well sunday I dove ie swam under water for 55 mins my first dive and 1 hour and 5 mins my second chasing lobsters in 30 fsw with surge, current and surf. I consider that a sport by any understanding of physical activity.
girldiverllc:I'm about the most non-athletic person I know. Can't catch a ball...always chosen last when they divide up teams. Running...yeah, well, only if someone is chasing me...with a knife.
Diving a sport? I don't think so, but I call it one. Perhaps so I can feel like I've all of a sudden become an "athlete".
Extreme sport...yeah, much cooler.
Think I'll go get a "Sports Massage" now...I've earned it!

Unless you are in competition, each of these activities are just that... activities. Some activities are aerobic and some are not. Become competitive at these activities and they become a sport.Rafael:I'm agree, it is a sport, no matter what people say.
you may not see it like that or aproached as a sport but it is a sport jus as billiards, climbing, kayaking, hunting...
In the sport of mountain/rock climbing... best time or first to the top wins the sporting event. White water kayaks run a course and are timed as well as penalized for missing thier posts. Cycling.... please....donooo:...Even a few that are not scored. How about mountain/rock climbers or white water kayaks or bike riding.

Sorry, this would be considered practice in the sports worldJanR:If everytime we dive we are competing against an ever increasing standard of being the best diver we can be...then of course diving is a sport...and against an awfully tough opponent, too.
For what it's worth.
