Congrats, that looks like a great light! How tight is the beam?

You definitely wear it the first way (over your 4 fingers, not your wrist) since you'll want to remove and hold the light in your right hand when you check your gauges or adjust your BC, and so you can stow the light on ascent/descent.

thanks... poor hubby had the entire moment planned to give it to me and i blew it for him :( (im a bad wife!)

what do you mean by how tight is the beam??? ie, how big is the beam when in use??

how do you measure such a thing... ive hated dive torches for ages (been trying to find one i like for a while) , either wishy washy beam/light or a pita to carry.

I don't typically use dive lights either, but my buddies do. And I've found that they're great tools for communication - if you can see their steady beam, they're OK. If they make quick waving motions at or in front of you, it means "pay attention" or "something's wrong".

For that, it helps to have a very narrow, tightly-focused beam that cuts through low-vis particulates and bright-sunlight situations. Some HID lights have "focusable heads" but LEDs typically don't. Dive Rite probably engineers the light for a narrow beam, but I guess it's a hard thing to measure without a direct comparison.

Luxeon Stars has a narrow beam on there own.

There is 3 in the head and things get a lot wider.

I would say the beam is a medium width.

Shining on the ceiling the beam is about 1m wide from 1.5m - 2m away and very white and bright, with no hotspots.

you married a non diver! yikes... didnt think that was allowed

well to be honest, i dont think hubby wants to use it.... he has his camera so im his critter finder

on our last dive i found baby moray eels, puffer fish, pipefish, angler fish and decorative crabs but i need to lift my game apparently :D

hi guys,..... now ive had a few dives with this and now wondering

is there a must use hand?? ive been putting it on my left because its easier to attach via the cam band but i think i will prefer the right hand. might be a pita to undo the camband off the bpw to install though

also, what do you guys do with the cord??? some dives if feels like it inhibates my arm movement (not that im waving my arms around but if im pointing at something for hubby), so does anyone have a pic of them using their light so i can see the cord placement to see what im doing wrong

cheers
