I chose the profile because sherwood had the most compact console configuration. I wanted the SPG and a compass in the console with the computer. I did debate the nitrox option but no one around here mixes nitrox.

I like the computer with about 30 dives on it. The surface sequence is a bit awkward. IMHO

Can anyone tell me if the Genesis React Pro computer modules will fit into the Sherwood consoles that accept their Profile computer modules?

They look compatible in the pictures.

Genesis owns Sherwood. The profile is identical to the Genesis resource. I would go with the react pro simply because you can do Nitrox (even if you don't plan to today). Better to buy it and not need it than to need it and have to buy a whole new computer later.

Have you looked at the Oceanic Veo200? All three of these computers are made by Pelagic, and it's the same as the React Pro, but tends to be slightly less expensive...

Slight correction.

Sherwood is not owned BY Genesis. They are a totally seperate company under the same corporate umberella as Genesis and Akona.

Enjoy!

Wow, only 3 months after my post. :rolleyes: We hashed this out in July, and you'll note that Okie has already said what you just said. If one company owns both, that's close enough for me. The point was that it's all basically the same stuff (at least computers) and made by pelagic.

I'm off to go dig up some posts from last year.

:D
What we BOTH failed to notice is that I also responded to that some time ago, as well. *laughing* I was doing one too many things at the same time yesterday and didn't read all the way through the thread.

I just looked at the recent questions and responded.

As for the age, you may have made the comment or question, but that does not stop people from reading it, responding or having other questions, so just because it's an old comment isn't any reason to not give input.

Another thought... it was mentioned how both companies have the same things, except for the regulators. Both companies have some similar things, but all in all, if you actually look at them, you'll see for the most part they are different.
The Phantom is not the Avid. They are 2 totally different cuts, and designs. The Cobra is no where near the Magnum. Genesis does not have a light weight, recreational back inflation bcd, and Sherwood has the Freedom.

Computers are different too. The Profile and Resource Pro are similar (very similar) but Sherwood has nothing like the React Pro, and Genesis has nothing even close to the Wisdom.

All in all, I agree the 2 companies have many similar items, but for the most part, it's very clear that they are run as 2 seperate companies.

What ever you choose, from what ever company, though... Enjoy!!!

AIRES makes the Oceanic, Sherwood, Genesis and Farallon computers....Go with the them......

I'm geting ready to buy my first computer and think that I have it narrowed down to these two. Any advce between the two would be great. Thanks

Hi;

I own a Genesis Reac Pro. I purchase it right after becoming a Open water diver.

Few month later I took a Nitrox Certification course and I was happy to find out that the Reac Pro computer can be use for nitrox and regular 21% air.

I am still using this computer and in the future whent I upgrate for a new computer. I am very sure that I will still own this one for my wife to use when she get her's certification or may use for a spare.

I will recommend it any time ...

Happy Diving;
Carlos
