I was diving here in North Carolina and one attached itself to a rather plump diver, which made for a few good jokes during the SI.

I was on a dive with a friend in the Philippines, and a remora attached to my friend. I thought it was pretty funny until the thing ditched my friend and settled onto me! It felt really weird, and it wouldn't leave until I got into shallow water and stood up!

I always noticed they seemed to pay more attention to the stinky divers. We had one site in the Bahamas they were there every week.

I had one for a whole dive attached to me. Everybody around me was making shark signs and I didn't understood, as there wasn't any shark around.. (except for me, but I didn't know until I saw the pictures).

Just for clarification, the OP's photo is of a shark sucker, similar, but not the same as a remora.

I had one want to attach to me once. I thought it might be fun, but I was diving in a shorty and he made a beeline for my inner thigh..I suddenly decided I didn't want to have to explain how I got that hickey ! LOL

That would vary by locally used common names, I think. "There are eight species in four genera" - some in the Remora genus, some in others commonly called remoras.

This guy boarded one...

Had one attached to my bare leg for an entire dive recently.

Kind of an odd feeling but I just decided to deal with it. Any time I pulled him off he'd just come back.

Oh please... tell me that was staged for our entertainment... :rofl3:

Ya think? No dive gear on the boat.. just fishing poles..

Yes I have. I was on my first live aboard trip (Blackbeard's). I was doing my safety stop when 2 of them swam up to me. At first I thought the where interesting looking, not knowing what the were. Then they kept getting closer & closer:D,.... Soon I was kicking them away with my fins, then I decided "screw the safety stop,... I'm outta here":outtahere:. I ascended a bit quickly & the crew saw what I was running from & died laughing. They then explained what they were & that they were jsut trying to attach to me. Needless to say, I was scarred for life:D:rofl3: .
