This is the kind of bad press that gives spearfishing a bad name. Like anyother style of hunting, there should be proper etiquette for anyone who plans to take the life of an animal. Of course not everyone abides by proper ethics

you kill it, you eat it. period. Maybe he got mercury poisoning from it?

I am totally infuriated by this. This guy needs to be prosecuted for this ILLEGAL and outrageous act. :angrymob::angrymob:

I've copied this photo to my hard drive so it doesn't disappear.

Captain Ken's Catch and release yep this one lived, My AZZ!

I've removed the photo for now. I'd still like to hear from someone who knows the truth behind the photo. There is enough description in this thread for anyone to understand the actual content of the photo.

Hell, even if were legal, how sporting is it to shoot a fish that lies on the bottom of the reef under ledges snoozing most of the time? It's like shooting a napping cocker spaniel puppy. I am disgusted.

That should be the end of anyone so incredibly stupid. Doing it by accident would be bad enough; also very stupid. Posting it for the world to see....this person does not deserve a C-card much less a business.

I don't know SPEED. It has a hole is the side of it's head and it is presented within the spearfising section. Besides, how does he know if it lived...

note the hole in the shark...

in my op i think he speared it...

I think it's likely it was speared too, but there is always a slight chance it was caught (not speared) and released, I've caught plenty of damaged fish in my day. Yeah, he probably shot it and no matter how you slice it it's a really stupid picture to post, but I'm not going to jump on the guy for spearing the fish until I know he did, in which case the gloves will come off big time. Who wants to contact this putz and get the story?

There is a posibility it was gaffed but he is still a baffoon and looks like an escaped convict. It still looks like a spear hole to me...
