I did. They issued me a separate policy for these items. As a litigation lawyer, I am satisfied with the documentation provided to me and representations made to me regarding their terms of coverage. However, like all insurance, you never will really know how good the insurance company is until you make a claim. Based on the negative reports regarding DEPP claims, I have little to no faith that they would pay a $4000 scooter claim if something were to happen to my scooter during a dive. Therefore, I had no desire to add these items to my DEPP policy and sought out different coverage.

Great. State Farm's reputation for paying claims is excellent as most know...

An E-Mail I just sent to DEPP:

I would imagine that if you get a response at all either Deane or Sandy will respond to this. I will be very interested since she ignores my emails regarding my claim and Deane has ignored the last 7 emails that I have either sent to him or cc: him on with no response to any of them.

Initiate mediation proceedings within the insurance compliance agency in your state. This has a way of gaining their attention rather quickly...

Flooding as in, while I was below the surface of the ocean, water entered my equipment and caused damage to the equipment.

The other thing that I don't like about DEPP is that you cannot cancel your policy and get a refund of the remainder of your policy premium. According to DEPP's terms and conditions, once the premium is paid, it is earned at the time of payment and non-refundable.

So, I still have my camera and strobes on my DEPP policy, even though I would like to move them to my State Farm policy.

Well, that indicates to me that they operate as a surplus lines carrier with many aspects of the contract unregulated by the state as compared to a admitted carrier which is highly regulated. A fully earned premium is rare in the industry at large...

I just got my DEPP Policy issued today and you guys ARE NOT giving me a warm fuzzy. ARRRRRRRGH!

So what would be the ramifications if I stopped the Credit Card payment?

I've been considering alternative options to DEPP as well. I've been with them since 2003, and all that I've been hearing in the past few years has certainly been somewhat concerning. At present, I do not have a lot of alternatives. From personal experience, I have had less than stellar responsiveness from them from a communications standpoint, except when it came to charging my credit card, which has always been prompt and on time. AND they probably love me - I pay every year and no claims.
