Help Settle a Debate re: This Sting Ray Video

My friend shared a video on Facebook where a boy picks up a sting ray out of the water and then "helps" it give birth. I said that plucking a marine animal out of the water where it can't breathe and keeping it there while the boy pulls it's babies out wasn't a helpful act. It had to have been traumatizing to the ray & it wasn't necessary.

My friend disagrees and then also noted that no one else complained on YouTube re: the original post.

I'd like your thoughts on this. Is this just an amazing video as my friend believes or is this a reckless video as I believe and traumatizing to the ray?

Generally - Wild animals will do their own stuff by themselves - they don't need help and in some cases it can be detrimental to the animals health. The animal should of been left alone. This is exactly as you thought - traumatizing to the ray - it was not needed the animal was probably not in any distress.

This is a great example of misuse of "debate" in the title. The fact that one idiot thinks such behavior is cool whereas everybody else thinks it is not, does not make it a debate.
