Does anyone happen know if there is a red (or other color) filter that will fit on the SJ7000? So far the ones I've tried were too small. The black, screwed-on square around the lens on the housing is about 39 mm X 39 mm. As far as I can tell the Hero 3, Hero3+, and the Hero 4 filters won't fit. I'm thinking one of the flip filters for a GoPro might fit if it will adjust upward and downward a few millimeters. Or perhaps a filter adapter could be modified and then I could use 52 mm or 58 mm round filters.

Thanks,

James

I think that an aluminium adapter like those used by backscatter could be easily adjusted. Once the aluminium frame is on, you have access to all backscatter shaped filters - I mean the one with the hinge

Backscatter does sell the dive filter for about $25 US. When I used my SJ4000 I taped it to the front of the housing.

okay. if the sj7000 housing is the same size as the sj5000 housing. then the backscatter one will not fit.

if its the same as the sj4000 one. then it will.

. This one fits onto my SJ7000 but is a bit snug but that's OK. It says it's for a GoPro Hero 3+ or Hero 4. I don't think most filters for the Hero 3+ or Hero 4 will fit. It holds a 58mm round filter. I tried a "Red" filter and at about 40-80 feet everything was dark red and horrible-looking. Next I will try a "Pink" filter. An "Orange" filter made everything too green.

The above picture is from the original listing but it has expired so I don't have a better picture, but this one appears to be the same and includes a filter:

The listing is: 58mm Convert Adapter + Red Filter for Gopro Hero 3 Tropical Water Diving LF354 | eBay

I don't know if this is the same "Red" filter that I used or not. I had my camera set on Auto White Balance which worked just fine with a red GoPro filter that I had jury-rigged. I now think that I'll be able to determine how the colors will look by viewing through the LCD screen. I rarely look at the screen while shooting so I guess I'd better start making it a habit

Also, I painted my housing black because I was getting circular reflections on the lens that seemed to be coming from behind the lens (side facing lens).
