I used to work for SKF so I know all the o-ring sizes too typically, it's just the oem parts that stump me. I don't touch my Cressi T10 SCs however, they have a great resale value. I cant imagine what it must be like for the Dive shops who sell Regs then have to outsource the servicing.
 
I believe some Oceanic Delta 2nds are designed to be tuned as you described
 
Outsource the servicing is not a problem as long as there is no issue afterward.
I am really please that I was introduced to Apeks regs right at the beginning of my tec dive training. And I eventually learn how to service them and getting the service kits were not an issue. However, getting spare parts is something else when Aqualung bought Apeks!
Some smaller or up and coming manufacturers eg. HOG and Deep 6 have shown the big boys how to behave properly! Good on them.
