    Shallow water ear rupture

My son, 16, was taking his first dive lesson. The pool is max 12 feet and he didn't even go all the way down. On the swim test he does a skin dive to about 8 feet and said he felt something "pop" followed by minor pain. He then went on to try and defend on SCUBA to the bottom but said he was...

    Doxa

That seiko is a great looking watch and well made.

    Doxa

I was unaware of steinhart - it looks good. I'll do some more reading on that one. As to being much cheaper-I mean a doxa starts at under a grand and tops out at under 4. A base model sub is over 8k and goes up from there. If I dropped the Doxa over the side I would be mad but I would get over...

    Doxa

I was wondering if anyone here used a Doxa while diving. I know it's a bit of an anachronism but I like having a watch with me and the replacement value on my sub has exceeded my comfort level so it is retired. Thoughts or pictures would be appreciated. If not a Doxa what other recommendations?

    Pointless customer service

It was a Vyper 2 and they replaced it with a Novo. My biggest frustration isn't that it was scratched, it's their pretend CS in dealing with it. I thought maybe they monitored this site but I guess not. Yes, I do plan on selling it and getting the "S" brand. I was on the fence, not because I...

    Pointless customer service

Why does Suunto even pretend? I actually liked their computer till it went out mid dive. A bit frustrated I sent in my defective computer, one of those with the defect that they tried to run away from until they were sued into doing the correct thing. I was happy that they immediately replaced...

    Closed New G250V It's over...

Just got my order in the mail. Fantastic! Just wanted to share in case someone is on the fence about a purchase. Got to the US fast (although our postal system is a bit slower then Japan), easy payment and beautiful reg. Simon, I might buy another if there are some left.

    Is there really a difference?

No. I mean the simple MK2. I can't tell any difference between my legend and my XIV even swimming against a current and now most of my my tanks are DIN. I am having a hard time finding a DIN kit for my XIVs so I am thinking of a MK2 and selling the legend.

    Is there really a difference?

I have been diving for years with regs from the early 70 to a new Legend but always between 0 and 100'. I can't honestly say I have ever noticed a difference with the only exception being a rental that was way past service and in bad need of one. I always hear people talk about "It's a great...

    Legend DIN leaking

So everything felt tight but the only o-ring I saw appeared to be not seated correctly. If viewed from the side it is not level....I am guessing I need to replace it....should there be another o-ring visible?

    Legend DIN leaking

I'll check when I get home and then post pictures if it wasn't loose. 27in-lbs? I hate having to torque stuff...

    Legend DIN leaking

This is surely something simple and stupid but my legend is leaking air from the DIN connection/tank valve. Is there an o-ring that needs to be replaced or is it time to service it? If it needs service I would probably do it myself but I've only worked on old conshelfs a few times.

    CMAS 1* standards

An interesting question; "valid certification in freediving?" If you can dive to a certain depth and stay down for a certain amount of time and you find out your cert is invalid, is the time/depth cut in half? Sarcastic I know but I am truly wondering what is meant by valid/invalid in this case.

    Liability release

I suspect the nationality of the signers is not relevant. The legality would de determined by the country you signed it in and executed what ever activity it was covering....at least that would be my assumption.

    Liability release

This release strikes me as onerous to the point where I wonder why he feels he needs this level of protection. There is even a section in there asserting that I am waving my family's right to sue if I am killed. Like I said, I am all for being responsible for me but I don't think I should be...

    Liability release

I am not new to diving and I have signed many releases before (and maybe I've always glossed over this). I signed up to take a Freediving course and they emailed the paperwork to bring with me. The liability form is covered with bold, extra large wording that states " ....INCLUDING BUT NOT...

How to use the CO2/O2 tables?

I'm going to be doing a class in a month and I found the tables but the instructions are a little lacking. I see that each table is divided into 8 rest/hold iterations but...do I do the table once a day and that is it? Do it 6 to 8 times in a day with some time (how much) in between? Do both...

    Serviced my first regulator

Very nice. Clearly I like the SEA4 . About a year ago I acquired a new, still int he package DIN kit and when I thought of installing it...well that started me thinking "why not try and service the entire thing." Now I have 2 DIN models which makes me very happy :) If you are going to do the...

    Serviced my first regulator

Good question. I bought a 4 prong poppet adjustment tool which I think made the second stage work very easy and a first stage holding tool from Herman. I think these are "gotta haves" in my mind although I suppose I could have gotten by without the poppet tool (I would have just not been happy)...
