    BCD TUSA Valve cap removal

Hi. I received a TUSA BCD. The valve cap has the cord broken and missed valve knob. I was trying to remove the valve cap but I couldn't. The valve cap moves a littel freely in both directions, but it seems that it's not threaded as all other brands. Does any one know how to remove the valve cap...

Buddy Dive 1st timer... any tips?

I've been a week in Buddy Dive Resort last March 2024. A wonderfull resort. The van we rented was a Renault Oroch with manual gear. The drycase for the key is included with the van. The van, though with few kilometers (35K only) had scratches in many places. Remark those scratches to the clerck...

    Sherwood Brut poppet seat

I guess that it's a second stage. If the TUSA seat has a hole, that means it's for a balanced second stage. The Sherwood Brut second stage is an unbalanced second (the Brut Pro is balanced), so the seat is blind. I guess any unbalanced second stage could fit.

Trip Report Bonaire March 2024–Dead reefs

I have just returned from a week at Bonaire. Though I´ve seen dead corals, the situation seems not to be not as catastrophic as mentioned by the OP. This was my first visit to Bonaire, so I cannot compare with past times, but I cannot say that EVERY SITE was dead. We´ve visited 13 different...

Dive Trip to Bonaire, staying in Buddy Dive

I'm just back from my dive trip to Bonaire. A wonderful experience. Buddy Dive Resort is excellent. The appartment, breakfast, the dive installations, the rental SUV, the system, the Buddy Reef, the personel, the restaurant, everything. No complain at all. The van was a Renault Oroch with manual...

    Diving the Thistlegorm no liveaboard

Hi all. I and my dive buddy and friend, and perhaps one more diver want to dive multiple times the Thistlegorm. We do not plan to dive from a liveaboard as the Thistlegorm seems to be dived only two times. We want to make perhaps 4 day dives and one or two night dives in that wreck. Also, some...

Question Mares BC nylon poor quality?

I've repaired several Mares BCDs where the fabric tore away miserably. In one occasion, an almost new Mares Hybrid BCD, the neck piece was completelly riped along the seams. I had to disassemble completelly and replace the fabric with new cordura. In some other Mares BCDs, the exterior nylon...

    Filament Choice

I print with ABS. I always print with 100 % infill to avoid water ingestion. Besides I print at the highest temperature, 250 °C to ensure good bonding in the Z axis. Furthermore I reduced the distance between lines, as default the distance between lines is 0,48 mm. I've reduced to 0,44 to avoid...

Using Vintage Reg for a pony set up?

US Calypso J has several versions. The one I have is known as the Calypso IV which has no J mechanism, but a blind cap. However, Calypso J and further models, besides of being too bulky because of the reserve mechanism housing, also has a fixed built-in joke. For a pony, it would be recommended...

    USD Calypso 1st Stage

My main regulator is a SP MK25 + A700 + R095. Besides this I own 2 Dacor 900 with Pacers seconds, all in working order. Also the mentioned TUSA was in the trash bin. I've recovered and made it work. That TUSA teached me a lot ! This Calypso is so pristine that I wanted to use in the pool, just...

    USD Calypso 1st Stage

My Calypso IV, as it's an early version, has only one LP port and one HP port, both 3/8". While I do have an AA50 adapter (7/16 female - 3/8 male HP) the HP port faces down. On subsequent versions of the IV the HP port was modified and angled, so the HP hose goes to the left and not straight...

    USD Calypso 1st Stage

Further more, I've tried making a new seat with grilon (polyamide) without the hole and without the o-ring. The seat worked OK, but I could verify the problem reported that led to the recall. This is, the seat moves forward, as HP air filters behing the seat pushing it towards the piston (in...

    USD Calypso 1st Stage

Hi all. I've was given an old Calypso IV and a friend of mine and buddy has also a Calypso IV. Mine is working ok, but has no Recall Installed. Seat seems almost new and it's almost pristine both in and out. It's an early version, as it has no rotary cap. I've only replaced the mouth piece...

Dive Trip to Bonaire, staying in Buddy Dive

I've just reserved a dive trip to Bonaire. We will stay in Buddy Dive. The deal includes a truck for every 4 divers. The question is what do divers do with the truck keys while diving. Truck keys can be submerged ? or we need to by a dry case ? Dry cases are also included with the truck rental ?

DIY 3D Printed CCR parts - Replacement purge cover for Hollis BOV 2nd stage

I've printed flexible 2nd stage purge covers with flexible filament (TPU). I've found that, even though the functionality is the same as the original covers, it feels hard. perhaps I'm designing too stiff. I've done a new design with ABS and a spring loaded button, which behaves and feels a lot...
