    Big Bay Point

The shop I was involved with at the time did three (that's 3!!!) PADI/Project AWARE beach/underwater clean-up and invited the press. But that doesn't sell papers like a bunch of whiny locals crying the blues that hoards of "foreigners" are ruining the peace and tranquility of Big Bay Point. We...

    Big Bay Point

Hmm, so you support a closed area for your local diving but have no problems diving in someone else's back yard. Whether you spend money in that area has no impact on the fact that you support private, local-only-access to dive sites in YOUR area, but have no problem exploiting areas outside...

    Big Bay Point

Whatever, there's lot of places to dive, no sweat off my back. And just so we're all clear, you ONLY ever dive where you pay your taxes, right? You never dive in someone else's back yard, all your dives are all at BBP. Correct?

    New Dive Shop in Barrie

Simcoe Diving has ABSOLUTELY NO AFFILIATION WITH Dive Central. As an instructor, Chris did not do his OWSI with DC (it was with AquaSub as Norbert pointed out above). The closing of DC has nothing to do with Simcoe Diving either, just a happy coincidence...

    Buddy check feature removed

I tried the feature a few times, but you have to be so close to the person, it's more or a pain than a plus, so I don't think I'll miss it a whole lot...

    dive logs needed for divePAL

I sent an email with a link to a zip file on my server (too big for email). You should set up a public DropBox or something similar on your web site to allow indirect or direct uploads instead of email. The log files tend to be large and hard to send in email.

    Oceanic vt4.0 now available

Nice wolfie! Yeah, the VT 4.0 is in two simple words....FREAKING AMAZING. I love this computer. Still dive with both my VT3 and my new VT 4.0, love em both, but the VT 4.0 is simply awesome.

Pass this on to the developer of Oceanlog...bug downloading VT 4.0 memory past 512Kb

For those with a VT 4.0 facing download problems, the beta download (2.3.5 beta) from the Oceanic site fixes the download issue. I was able to download all the dives from my VT 4.0. Damn this computer kicks butt, love it!

    Oceanlog 2.3.0 SUCKS

Alberto, not sure if you would even be able to say anything (NDA, etc), but are you using an external library or have you been given protocol / memory layout information from Pelagic? When I asked Ron at an Oceanic regulator service course I took, he made it clear that in no uncertain terms...

Pass this on to the developer of Oceanlog...bug downloading VT 4.0 memory past 512Kb

Well that is the ultimate problem...I had a sneaking suspicion because I've played with the memory dumps from many of the Pelagic dive computers, but for most they would assume the computer is defective, not the software. This would cause a huge logistical and monetary snafu for them. I love...

Pass this on to the developer of Oceanlog...bug downloading VT 4.0 memory past 512Kb

There IS an alternative (actually a couple). Diving Log uses the libdivecomputer work by Jef (TnT) in it's 'Universal Downloader'. The VT 4.0 download is not quite ready (at least I get a protocol error right now). Nick (don't know if he has an account here) has also worked on this for his...

    OceanLog/Windows 7 64bit Problem

Adam, I have a Toshiba Laptop (P500, i7) with Windows 7 64-bit and it works for me. I looked in the registry for 'VCP0' and the only entry I have is here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\SERIALCOMM Key: \Device\VCP0 Value: COM4 Do you have any other keys in there with other VCP...

Pass this on to the developer of Oceanlog...bug downloading VT 4.0 memory past 512Kb

I have a shiny new VT 4.0 and have been loving it...imagine my (non) surprise when Oceanlog failed to download properly once the profile memory passed the 512Kb mark in the computer's memory. The profile is there, but Oceanlog fails to download properly. And I know why. When the downloader in...

Ease of use Atom 2.0 vs 3.0 vs OC1 vs VT4

I had the VT3, awesome computer, interface was easy once you learned the tricks, but navigation meant a combination of press and press and hold and press and hold two buttons. Plus the non-dot matrix was a bit unclear at times, but awesome workhorse...over 300 dives on mine and never a hiccup...

    Transmitter problem

I had the EXACT thing happen with me...I thought the transmitter was pooched. I then replaced the battery with a new Duracell battery and it worked immediately. I had previously tried 3 batteries and they all failed. With the Duracell I made damn sure the 'best before date' was like 4 years...

    Oceanlog 2.3.0 SUCKS

Well, if you set out to release the most un-usable and un-friendly version of Oceanlog to date...mission accomplished. This latest version consistantly looses information, wants to install itself every second time I use it and what's with the idiotic debug beeping in the background while...

Oceanic VT3 Dive Computer - Online Class

Very worthwhile...I've had my VT3 for 4 years, have over 400 dives and even I learned a few new tricks for navigation. I know, I know...RTFM, but I'm a seeing kinda guy and it's easy to miss these small things in the amount of info in the manual.

    Undergarment Temp rating

I have not tried the MK3 but with the MK1/MK2 and water temps of 46 F this past weekend, it was indeed chilly. I have used my Bare polar loft and it was warmer, but I think for anything less than 40 F, I will use my XCD2 Pro instead. Crushed neoprene has that extra bit of warmth, it's just...

    Oceanlog 3?

As Teamcasa stated, DivingLog uses a DB import to read dive data from the OceanLog database after OceanLog downloads from the computer. This is what I have been doing for a long time now. I have shared my code with Sven who is working on version 5.0 of Diving Log and he also has access to the...
