Newer used oly flashes, but I hope that in the RC mode camera battery will last MUCH longer (now have to change every 2 dives) and the recharge time would be faster (now we have to wait for the camera to charge its flash again...) May be it will also be a bit more accurate...
I think this stuff is worth a look:)
UFL-2 Underwater Strobe | Olympus looks like sea&sea but with olympus Rc protocol.
New port design on a new housing pt-ep12 PT-EP12 Underwater Case for E-PL7 | Olympus
It will have its own housing PT-EP10. Here is a system chart http://www.olympusimage.com.my/products/dslr/accessories/underwater/pdf/systemchart_ptep10.pdf
Just released 60mm macro is compatible with a stock flat port of pen housings, so now there is finally a use for it :)
Another interesting...
AFAIK you can not use wet WA lens with a port without lights. You also can not shoot with a built in strobe with it. Also there in an unconfirmed info that panasonic 45 mm macro lens works well in the lights port
one more + for e-pm1. The flash that you do not like is actually quite ok and BIG advantage is that there is no way to put it inside the housing without raising it. There are lots of stories about people forgetting to pop up the E=pl1 and e-pl2 flashes before the dive.
What I actually miss in...
Actually it is not cheaper. Considering the cost of the housing you will probably end up paying the same money. E-pl2 pt-ep03 housing can be now found with a discount so if I wanted cheap I would go for that one. If you cant find a deal on pt-ep03 than go for e-pm1 with $600 pt-ep06 housing.
If...
I thought so too. But the "lights" port actually looks a bit shorter. That is why you can use WA wet lens with it. May be someone who actually ownes one can confirm compatibility with 45 macro?
I do not have that port (bought a pt-ep06 without L). Wish I would have known that before buying...
Here is quite a useful article. It appears that a port with lights for pt-ep05/06L works well with 45mm macro lens. As well as Zen 8mm dome.
Tip of the Month
e-pl3 and e-pm1 AF is almost instant - same as DSLR. If you plan to use external flash there is simplyfied housing available for e-pm1 for $600 with old style port. But I should note that e-pl3 has better ergonomics (more buttons). I have hard time with deleting pics and enlarging them if a...
Zen dome will not work with a diffuser. If anyone has Precision dome installed please confirm that it is working with onboard flash. For a diffuser you can use a plain sheet of paper.
Thank you!
2 terson - http://athena-opt.com/EP-0506/images/chart_e.jpg adapter + port will cost me about $800 which is I think a bit too much:) still not a very low volume...
2 packhorse- I have highly quailfied pesonnell with electronically operated state of the art lathe but when it comes to the glass I...
Hi everyone! I need a short flat port for olympus/panasonic pancake lens. I own a pt-ep06 housing with a standart port. It is not possible to use internal flash with it since the "old" port (az well as ZEN dome) is casting heavy shadow. Sometimes I go for just one or two dives per vacation...
Just got my pt-ep06 housing (with the plain port, no focus light). Turns out that it is not bundled with a diffuser and the built in flash can not be used because the port is casting a heavy shadow. This is not exactly what I expected - hoped I would be able to use it if my flash fails on me...
Had the same problem with s2000 a year ago. It just stopped flashing after first dive. And I think that even before that trip it was not firing regularly. Had to send it back to Inon for repair. Now it works.
How is built in flash on e-pl3? Any major compaints?
