Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

We arrived to smokey skies and a red sun. Unknown to me my camera battery was bad so I only got 32 seconds of video. The ocean was dead calm with a murky 15 foot of vis. and a temp. 53 degrees at depth. We reached a max depth of 41 feet on middle reef towards coal chute cove. We saw a few...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

MacAbee was dead calm when we arrived at about 8:30 AM. Overcast and not too cold, the beach was closed except for divers and kayaks. We went straight out from the restaurant toward the kelp beds and submerged. We saw old cannery pipes, a section of anchor chain, a heavily encrusted pot or...

Need manual or schematic for a Yamaha RDS 300 scooter

I have one of these scooters which are supposed to be better than the Sea-Doo scooters. The only difference i can see is the gears don't rust if they get wet. My scooter has two speeds. There is a speed control unit inside that was water damaged so i got another one. Same problem. When i pull...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

8-14-20 We arrived to what was going to be the hottest day of the year. 80’s in Monterey, 100 in San Jose. The beach was empty at 8:30 AM but full later with little social distancing or masks. They were so packed we nearly had to step on people to get out. Like so much of the ocean here...

If you had watched the video the depth and vis was listed. I've since added the report next to the video thumbnail.

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

It was an overcast day when we arrived at 8 AM at Point Lobos. The ocean was dead calm and the kelp was thick. When we entered the water was like pea soup; very gloomy and dark due to the poor vis and kelp cover. Using our compasses we slowly made our way out to middle reef then turned left to...

29 April updated order: any changes for divers?

OK, if anyone goes to Monterey please ask a cop or ranger to confirm diving is OK if coming from out of town. A report on conditions like water temp., vis and waves at Breakwater would be nice. We at least know not all the beaches will be closed.

29 April updated order: any changes for divers?

Not all beaches were not closed, just down south like San Diego county.

29 April updated order: any changes for divers?

The governor did not close all beaches. Monterey is open. I wish we knew if out of town divers can go. I'm in San Jose.

Would be nice to get a clear answer. The Monterey website is confusing and unclear.

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

I'm not almost 7 feet tall! (Oops!) I'm under 6 feet, but getting old sucks because I've put on weight.

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

It can't be oral inflated, and you are not naturally buoyant in the newer dry suits.

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

Looks interesting. Could i wear a Lycra suit under it to make it easy to put on?

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

No. A dry suit requires an air supply from your tank to control buoyancy.

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

I dive dry. The wet suit I'm looking for would be for snorkeling.

Recommend a warm semi-drysuit for snorkeling?

I dive with a dry suit but sometimes I would just like to snorkel. A NeoSport 7.5mm wet suit with a Lyrica suit and 3mm tropical suit under it is not enough. I'd like to keep the cost to about $300 to $400. Any ideas? I'm 70 so I do get cold easily in 52 degree water. Is this a good choice? I...
