Been diving the park again after a few years but haven’t seen the swim platform or glass bottom boat wreck yet. Are they gone or am I just missing them in the limited vis this week?

Bali trip report 7/4-7/18 Tulamben and Padangbai

AlMitch, It was my 1st visit to Bali so am not already familiar with the various spots. The Kubu wreck was about a 5 minute drive away and we traveled in the back of a pick-up. My impression was that they are very willing to accommodate requests. Enjoy your trip in December. Should you end up...

Bali trip report 7/4-7/18 Tulamben and Padangbai

1st trip to Bali and had a great time there with my family. In Tulamben stayed and dove with Ocean View. I really liked this place. Perfect location to the liberty, nice rooms and grounds, restaurant was pretty good too but got a bit bored with the breakfast menu after a couple days. The...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

This thread seems in need of an update. Didn't dive today but realized I don't think shared video from my last dive which was a night dive at breakwater. Heard humpback whale song throughout that dive which I have never heard diving this area before but recognized it from past diving in Maui...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Thanks, I tracked down that video, and yes, definitely not a treefish and it does appear to be the barred knife jaw. found this article that makes the possibility more believable Invasive Asian Fish Found in Oregon Waters I will be on the look-out on my next dive there.

"Barred Knife Jaw"?? Had never heard of that and had to look it up. I have never seen or heard of that being seen in Monterey area before (or anywhere in California for that matter). I strongly suspect that what was actually sighted was a treefish. Treefish - Wikipedia You don't see them...

Breakwater was nice topside today. knee high surf entry, my son and I dropped next to the pipe and followed out to metridium fields. Some surge and 10ft vis down to about 30fsw where it opened up to 20-25 vis. Lot's of brittle stars, snails and shrimp along the sand, noticed shimp liked to perch...

North monastery today was easy walk in entry in knee high surf. Very healthy kelp bed there. Visibility was a green 10-12 feet. Few moon jellies and salp like creatures. Mostly dead lying on the bottom. Some blue and olive rockfish. Few senoritas and schools of small tubesnout. Had an amazing...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Dove North Monastery today with my son and had a great time. Topside was sunny and warm. The beach was gorgeous. Surf was breaking just above the knee on entry and could stroll in to don fins then surface swam out along the edge of the kelp. Dropped at about 25 fsw and followed the reef north...

Big thanks for the dive and conditions report. Such reports just before the weekend are especially appreciated for those of us considering a trip out. Curious to know where you entered in big sur. I have looked for access points and they are hard to come by. Dove garrapata once and it was great...
