Like others have said, training and practice... But also, another good thing would be to be transparent about the fact that you've had these experiences with people that you dive with. Let them know so that they can keep an eye on you and be prepared if you need assistance.

Coconut Tree Divers is awesome. There's nothing else to be said. There might be other dive shops as good as them, but I bet you won't find one better in Roatan. Top notch training, people, and prices... what more can you ask for?

I chose PADI just based on circumstance, but I have to say that now that I'm learning more about diving I'm more attracted to what I've seen in NAUI courses -- they seem more involved. I'm starting the NAUI shore diver course tomorrow.
