    Considering a trip to Philippines

If you decide on Anilao I would suggest finding a resort that does not involve a lot of stairs, especially with any type of knee issues. A lot of resorts do have a number of stairs up to a hundred, but there are some where you can drive right down to your resort and dive shop.

    Puerto Galera April trip plan

My current tropical suit for Philippines is a 3mm Henderson. It does keep me warm but I actually think a 5mm would be easier to put on and take off, especially with ankle zippers.

    Good 3mm wetsuits?

I’ve gone through several suits over the years, including Bodyglove, O’Neil, Xcel, Henderson thermoprene to name a few. But the wetsuit I wear now is the easiest to don and doff, comfortable to wear and move around in, keeps me the warmest is my JMJ.

    Puerto Galera April trip plan

I used to wear a 3mm Xcell shortie and it was fine. When it came time to replace it I had a custom JMJ 5mm long sleeve shortie. It also worked out great, easy to pack and dry out. But it became too tight, that is to say I gained weight. Now it’s a Henderson thermoprene 3mm fullsuit. It has...

Trip Report Cozumel Trip Report: October 30 – November 9, 2022

Hello Trailboss: Several of us are staying at quinta suites this October and November. We all will be diving with tres pelicanos and I know that they will take care of most of your gear like wetsuit and fins. My question is a place to dry some of your other gear like booties, hood, bathing...

Philippine Airlines - Pony in checked luggage

A bit off topic but on Philippine airlines you can not bring your regulator set as carry on. I was told it’s considered a weapon.

HOG D1, can't unscrew the environmental cap

Please let us know how it worked out. I used a pin spanner from DGX. It was on pretty tight the first time I removed it. I used lube on the threads where I reassembled it. Good luck.

    Tourist lost - Cozumel

I am trying to understand how a down current can affect you at a 5-6 meter SS. I always thought they happen on or below the wall.

DOWN CURRENTS -Any with true real-life experience?

In the other thread it was said both divers, husband and wife, and perhaps the dive master were at their safety stop. I am guessing this was 5-6 meters and quite a bit above the wall/reef. So my question would be does a downdraft happen that high above the reef? And why were the other divers...

Any squid or eggs at Redondo/Vets?????

Was diving today at VETS. Toured the monument, 3 🐙 and down the slope 60-70’ no signs of any squid eggs. Water temp mostly 59, 57 at depth. Entry easy, but watch out for the double trough. You can be an arms length from the shore and be on 6-8’ of water. Same for the exit. Waves 1’, no power.

Although I would never drink the water from the tap I have always used it to brush my teeth and rinse afterwards without any issues. I also use the ice from Casa in my drinks without any issues. enjoy your first stay here.

    No More Paper FMMs ?

I flew about two weeks ago. AA passed them out but at immigration they were not needed. The officer told me and showed me that they just stamp your passport. On the customs form I once again did the online form and printed it out instead of the one handed out on the plane. In May no issues...

Are HOG regulators good or problem?

Have my D1 first stage and 4 of the original second stages for well over a decade with no issues. Bought a zenith second stage and don’t care for the rubber purge but functions well. Over 400 dives on them. I buy the kits and service them myself now. Very easy to service.
