    Water Temps?

75-80 degrees......but all about being cold is different with everybody. When I diving in Hawaii I tease my friends for wearing a 5mm or 7mm, and calling them crazy. And they laugh at me and call me crazy for diving with my boardshorts and maybe a rash guard. That's why I go there to dive, to be...

    Thailand in June?

Always hot and humid in Thai :) just some months get a little more rain than others. If you're still planning...ticket prices are much cheaper when you are not flying during the summer months (US summer) but avoid US holiday times. I was just checking prices the other night and RT from SFO to...

    G16 questions

you can get some great shots without adding a strobe. Just understand that you are "flash limited" going into it. And always use the defuser if you're using the onboard flash. Just play with it a bit and learn what the onboard flash can and can't do. (mostly for macro) And always shoot in RAW...

The Ongoing "Which Camera for a Newbie?" Question

" I am not a scuba diver, only a vacation-type snorkler" ....you don't need a dive camera. A lot of the camera companies make underwater cameras for snorklers and beach goers. Some are rated to 30 feet. These cameras would suit your needs and be much cheaper than getting a "dive" camera setup.

    Canon G16 White Balance Issue

RAW is your friend. ;) Take a gray card down with you and/or set it when you get to depth. You can use anything really to set the WB, the sand works great. but the best and easiest to adjust post dive. saves a lot of time having to set the WB every time conditions change during the dive where...

Sinus vs Migraine - Headache during dives, but it will go away afterwards.

most likely not exhaling enuff causing CO2 build up. be sure to exhale fully and empty you lungs.(unless you're trying to keep from bumping the coral at one point) short breathes will give you a headache. Once out of the water, if you give yourself a headache, do some deep breathing being sure...

    California learning to dive questions

yes, get you a vest or hooded vest to wear under the suit if you think you'll be cold. Everybody is very different when it comes to the cold. There is always the "shock" when the water first dribbles into the suit, after that you don't really notice it. (I don't anyway) Unless you're down there...

    Why using external filter?

don't belive everything you read in an ad. Never heard of setting the correct WB and it will suck the blue out of your photos.(pretty funny actually) Interesting.......

    Why using external filter?

if you're using an SLR why would you use a red filter anyway. Set the WB when you get down to where you'll be shooting. The red filters are pretty usless on cameras that you can set the WB on
