ccr's are incredible tools but sadly most divers including myself probably aren't anywhere responsible enough to use them all the time. Even in the future mechanical failures will happen no matter how much technology we have. There is really no gas other than He that we can add to our gas to...
A big, dumb fish:rofl3::rofl3::rofl3:
That is a pretty close minded statement about an organism that has been evolving to become an apex predator for the past 500 million years.
As for spearfishermen being attacked I know there was a spearfisherman attacked near Santa Cruz a few weeks ago...
You and hetland hit the nail on the head. The bulls in the area are pretty bad but nothing a powerhead won't take care of. I keep my fish close to me so I won't lose them. Sending fish up with a liftbag is a terrible idea. Nothing but lost fish and liftbags. Most are just curious but some...
Would any of us actually stick to 30ft/min ascent rate if we were OOA and breathing on a pony??? Just posing a question. I know I would have a hard time with that. I would get to 60ft. really quick then start a slower ascent.
I know someone that tried something similar and wasn't too pleased. After 1 shot it tears the broadhead up pretty badly so its kinda like 1 shot and done. Sounds like your gun might be the problem. I have shot up to 100 pound AJ's from over 20ft and stoned them. I use a 57" Wong with 5/16 in...
You do understand that most compressors now use a membrane system to prevent this. I don't know any shops that have a compressor that pumps air that isn't nitrox compatable. Some of the smaller personal compressors that I have seen have this issue.
Most TI regs are safe to use upto EAN40. If you do run O2 through it there will be big issues. I've seen a video of this but can't seem to find it right now.
No... Well not from that. I know who you dive with and the type of diving that you do on a regular basis from your other posts and that speaks for itself. I highly doubt you or your buddies do anything that is careless or take unnecessary risks. You know how people on this board can be "If...
Maximum operating depth for that mix. At 1 atm your po2(partial pressure of oxygen) is .21 with air. A 32 mix your po2 is .32 at 1 atm. You must convert the fsw into atm and add 1 for the actual atmosphere. So 111/33+1=4.36. 4.36x.32=1.39. Some people use 1.4 I personally use 1.6 put not...
I don't use a sling when spearfishing. I use a hard mount to my main tank. I have a 40 ft3 pony that I use most of the time. I also use an h-valve on all my tanks. That might be a good option if you dont want to carry the pony.
You are correct. I agree spend the little extra $$$ and get the S600 (I think the S555 looks funny anyway). I love mine. As for the OP's question if you are diving colder (<45 degree) water get the mk17 for warmer water I like my mk25's.
Size is probably the most common reason. Not as much buoyancy change during the dive. The lift requirement isn't that big of an issue. Most people that dive large steel doubles dive dry so you will need some weight. Even in 77 degree water it can get chilly after 2 hours.
