    Learning from experience

without a doubt you need to be under water. Diving with a scooter on the surface is horrible! don't forget your compass!

    Socorro crowded?

I was on the Nautilus Explorer for 10 nights in March 2016. I was concerned about the number of divers on the boat as well (24) but it wasn't bad as we were divided in 3 groups and rotated on each dive which group went in first. No more than 2 groups were in the water at any given time. I...

Diving the M/V Newtown Creek - aka "Lady Luck"

I believe it. vis isn't always good and go figure..when current isn't bad--vis sucks..I should clarify that I have done the dive as a non decompression dive (well maybe with a few minutes of deco), albeit with a scooter.. When the vis is at least 50 ft, as long as you are on bow of the rodeo...

Diving the M/V Newtown Creek - aka "Lady Luck"

Partially agree with you. Navigating between the 2 is doable as a non decompression dive if the current cooperates. More than doable with a scooter. I would imagine some dive ops would shun the idea, especially if the capabilities of the diver is questionable.. I also know a handful that do...

Nautilus Belle Amie Socorro Dec 14-22 2015 review (very long)

PNT. Thanks so much for the additional feedback. I'll definitely bring my go pro setup in that case. Just to clarify my question about nitrox. Did they have the capability of filling at different mixes? (either by request or based on dive site) I have a shearwater and measure my dives based...

Nautilus Belle Amie Socorro Dec 14-22 2015 review (very long)

Thanks for this awesome review. I am going in 6 weeks and can't wait. This review got me even more excited. I'm just debating whether or not to let everyone else take video/pictures (and hopefully use their work) or if I want to bring my stuff with me. Curious what equipment you used get your...

Taka Ribbon reef and cod hole

Did a 4 day trip to cod hole and ribbon reefs with Mike Ball. trip is awesome. I want to say I averaged 4 dives a day. Did a couple night dives and the giant clams were incredible. Did this trip when I was a newby diver. All dives are relatively shallow I believe in the 10-20 meter range...

    Liveaboard Preparation

I love the clips and the extension cord. I would have never thought of those! I was thinking more along the equipment side of things..I bring an extra mask, 2 computers, and a full reg set. The full reg set allows me to swap parts down to a mouthpiece. Oh..and zip ties!
