    Blocked sinuses

+1 ... Use the neti pot for awhile(month) regulary. I used it pretty much everyday when I first started, did wonders. Now I use it when I get plugged up, which is almost never, or every once in while to just wash out all the dust, smoke or what ever I've spent time around.

    Diving and Asthma

After reading a few studies about cronic problems realted to commercial and miltary divers; they all had one thing in common excellent lung function. I would say if your friend is active that she would have a low risk of problem. My own personnal view is that it would probably be helpful to her...

    My new Uemis SDA

Nice computer man, but that is way more then what I need. I would just like the ability to download more programs as I progress. I don't need ccr or tri-mix just, nitrox. Also I'm willing to pay alittle more to help move computers in the direction of the Zurich, Icon HD and your computer. Looks...

    Dynamic Apnea Distance Conversion

I'd say what ever you can do in the pool you can for sure do depth wise. You may not be getting the benefit of kick-offs, but you are getting the benefit of your lungs shrinking and slowing your use of oxygen. In my experience, what ever I did in the pool, I could do that and then some in the...

    Too much to pick from

I'd just sit back for awhile... With the new Mares computer out and releasing AI for 2010 I'd hold off. Between that and the Zurich, I think computers are going to move more that direction(color screen and upgradable) prices will drop. Color screens are going to be the new standard in my view...

    Blocked sinuses

I'd check out getting a neti pot to wash your sinus's out. I use to have a problem with sinusitis, after using a neti pot regularly It cured the problem. Now I just use it every so often or if I get blocked up. I use a spoonful of kosher, non-iodised salt. Here's a link ... Neti Pot Instructions...

Current Research on Deep Stops for Recreational Divers?

I gleaned emphasis on the time at those stops and the ascent rates for those stops. Such as less deco time in deep stops and more time at shallower stops. But you have to understand for a guy with 6 dives under his belt this is all pretty neat for me. So take some of this with a grain of salt :)

apnea suits/ bouyancy + other newbie questions

I sink like a rock in just board shorts.... hahaha .... You might want to do some pool work to help develop your breath holds. Practice 50m underwater swims, if you can't do that start with 25m. I liked throwing dive sticks around the whole pool and swim around and collect them all. I found much...

Dizziness Under Water - Multiple Ascents

    Sorry misread that

apnea suits/ bouyancy + other newbie questions

Nitrogen doesn't matter since you're not taking breaths underwater. You can free dive until you get tired. Your level of conditioning will dictate how long you can spend free diving. As far as how deep you can go is up to you, how long can you hold your breath? When I was in my best condition I...

Dizziness Under Water - Multiple Ascents

I was thinking you were approaching a shallow water blackout ... having done a few myself that's what it sounds like. You'll lose periferral vision and it will start to narrow, feel dizzy and then finally your vision will close the rest of the way and doink you pass out. I've passed out...

Current Research on Deep Stops for Recreational Divers?

According to the afore mentioned paper the rate of ascend does matter. It was shown that slow ascent rates say 10 or 15 fpm to a deep stop did little to off gasing. According to their data divers off gased substantially more nitrogen when ascent rates were faster to your deep stop. 33fpm being...

    Best fins for foot cramp?

Force fins are good option... I dive split fins and are very happy with them. I do suggest you get the bungie straps though. I have spring straps on my fins and recommend that to everybody, super comfortable. Donning and duffing are a cinch!

    5mm or 7mm Suit?

7mm for sure, you can always dive without a hood and gloves if the water is in the 70's range and remain comfortable. There is a big difference between 64 and 74(especially when crossing a thermocline), if you dive 50 degree water most often then drysuit is probably your best bet. No contest...
