    Diving from Cruise Ship

Back from our cruise. Husband did dive Belize, dive op from the cruise ship, and has 2 things to say. 1. The dive op was fantastic, and the provided lunch was really good. 2. That was his favorite dives of the trip (also dived at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Roatan). He shot some video...

    Diving from Cruise Ship

Belize City... booking thru your ship = dive op picks you up at the ship, no tendering so no wasted time. We will be doing this next week, I will report back afterwards. It is over an hour each way out to the reefs (Turniffe) where they take you, its an all day thing with lunch include by the...

Best February cruise departing Florida or Texas

We cruise out of Galveston regularly, on Carnival. Look at their website, carnival.com . Feb is just a month away, so many ships may be sold out or close to it. The Carnival ships in Galveston go to either Belize, Roatan, Cozumel or Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Cayman on their 7 day trips...

Suggestions for Key West or Turks & Caicos

We had 2 fantastic dives in Grand Turk from a cruise recently. I have videos. Booked thru the cruise line and you can see it was not a cattle boat. Really enjoyed every second of it.

Just Returned from Another Coz Trip, Looking for New Dive Destinations

Just my point.... liveaboards give you the best diving, but they are for people who want to do nothing but dive, eat, dive, eat, dive, sleep repeat. There is zero to do onboard a liveaboard boat...they are just floating bedrooms that take you to the reef. If you want more than that.. skip...

Just Returned from Another Coz Trip, Looking for New Dive Destinations

My husband and I were in the same boat as the OP about 15 yrs ago...only place we went for diving was Cozumel and we decided we had to start looking elsewhere. We kept going back to Cozumel because of the price and decided we had to be willing to pay more to go elsewhere.... we bit the bullet...

Carnival Cruise ship collision in Cozumel

drrich2... the area damaged is the aft dining room, 2 stories tall with large windows. Looks like that is the only real damage. Directly below that is the Comedy Club, maybe some damage there from impact, broken fixtures, etc. As far as free future cruises, I am betting Carnival will give...

    Diving While on Cruise

Christi - that is horrible, but that is NOT a major passenger cruise line doing that. If you have ever been on a cruise ship, and been on the Behind the scenes tour, you see how all trash onboard the cruise ship is sorted (by hand, gross, yes there are people who have to go thru it as their...

Cruises and insurance for missed dives

The reason some divers use cruise ships is just that..... its easier than flying to and from different islands, and your non-diving partner has something to do while you are out on reef, then you have quality time together in evenings. Me and hubby are at this juncture now. I have been...

    Possible southern reef closure

Charred - Wow, that sounds horrible. 84 degrees in Nov is bad. Global warming of oceans/weather related.... and not diver related, not cruise ship related. The sargassum laying on the reefs is of great concern, to me. I just don't see any "cure" for this at all. It sounds like it will only...

    Scuba Club DM Busted

I think the Moderators should delete this whole post as it is based on inaccurate information and just the title is inflamatory towards a respected business, ScubaClub, that has done nothing wrong. Remember when you post on the internet, it is around forever.... and now any new diver looking to...

    Scuba Club DM Busted

I have never seen a DM at SCC tolerate such behavior at all. In fact, we saw a DM chew out a customer on the boat after a dive for touching a sponge. I am sure the DM got disciplined for it, or possibly suspended. Most of the DMs at SCC have been there 10+ years and know the rules well...

Top warm water diving locations for Octopus?

Cozumel night dives on Paradise reef or SCC shore dive. Usually see at least 5, sometimes twice that. I have seen them other places in daytime but not as many as at night in Cozumel.

    Possible southern reef closure

It always amazes me how many divers think DEEP = Best diving. Personally, I would rather spend 90 minutes on a shallow dive, watching the fish and critters than a 90' dive for 15 minutes seeing very little. I already have that check mark on scary deep dives on my bucket list, and it wasn't...

    Possible southern reef closure

Money Bar is north of Chankanaab, so it is NOT in the closure area.

    Possible southern reef closure

So does anyone think the reef closures has nothing to do with diving, but testing on the water/pollution issues instead?

    Unilateral paralysis of diaphragm

That was my thoughts also. No way I could fight current or deal with an emergency. Kicking hard would put me at a huge oxygen deficit. thank you for looking into this for me.

    Southwest To Cozumel

Honestly....Southwest has been our preferred airline for several years. Ron uses it for work travel, we build up points and use those for free travel for vacations. BUT the biggest reason is the free bags. TWO free checked bags per person. When you travel with dive gear, it matters. We have...

    Unilateral paralysis of diaphragm

So... its been a crazy diving life for me! After 19 yrs as a diver, I have found the past 10 years have been eventful medically. 10 yrs ago... uterine cancer, cured, cleared to dive again. 6 yrs ago.... mitral valve prolapse... surgically repaired minimally invasively. cleared to dive again...

    Possible southern reef closure

My point was that its not just cruise ships. There are thousands of cargo ships and tankers sailing the oceans, all over the world. They are a part of the problem, also. In fact, there are more of those ships than cruise ships, if you look on that website I linked, you will see how many...
