Shearwater Peregrine charging cradle blinking green

Many thanks to Jose Ventura at Shearwater for identifying the problem - its been 4 months since my last dive. Despite having rinsed in warm water post-dive, there appears to have been something sticking the "Function" button which soaking in warm water fixed. The green flashing light was due to...

Shearwater Peregrine charging cradle blinking green

The charging cradle is blinking green and the battery isn't charging. It has been 5 months since last charged. The instructions state to "top off" the battery every 3 months, so thought I had some room to spare. Suggestions??

Help deciding between Curacao and St Maarten

We normally dive TCI but have recently ventured to Aruba. Only 2 of us dive, the other 4 don't. Aruba had some great topside excursions but the diving was more like Roatan versus the clarity of TCI (West Cay). We want to look at other islands (we're liking the Dutch islands). The diving...

Mares Drak error w Puck: "index was outside the bounds of the array"

Bob, I've downloaded SubSurface but the DRAK interface still reads "error". (I did buy a new interface as I thought the might be the problem..... I was wrong.). I've tried downloading to MacDive and DiveLog DT without success.

Unable to download dives from Puck to Mac

Question on Puck (the old ones) - I used to be able to download my dives into DiveLogDT (Mac) without problems. Then I was unable to download my daughter's Puck. Now I'm unable to download mine. I did buy another DRAK interface as the original seemed to not have a good connection. I've also...

Carnival Magic - Cozumel, Belize, Roatan - Nov 09-16

We stayed onshore for Cozumel. In Belize, decided to use SeaSports Belize. This is a short (< 10 minute) walk outside the "cruise ship area". We were very pleased with DM John who gave us a bit of history on the way to our first dive site, Gallows Point, ~ a 30-minute ride. Our surface interval...

    Bullied under water

I have seen at least one other poster (James R) state this - what he did is "assault" and can be prosecuted. And you have it on tape...... Does he ever touch you on land (some jurisdictions may not extend to the water, check with state Game Wardens ??)? If so, file charges. The saying...

    Basic scuba diving rules

While I appreciate the responses, these (responses) are specific to cave diving (as stated by the list provided). My question still stands - what 3-5 safety rules should be stressed for EVERY diver ? Just off the top of my head..... 1. ALWAYS dive within your knowledge, skills, and comfort...

Can the prior experience of your instructor save your life?

From my Pops - "Wisdom comes from experience, and experience comes from making bad decisions (and living through them)" Voltaire (paraphrased) - "A smart man learns from his experiences, a truly wise one learns from others." Common saying (paraphrased) amongst Emergency Services - "some times...

A question about the devils eye/ear entrances

And there you have it.......the next time one reads about someone dying in an environment that they had no business in, maybe we'll remember the above quote.... The NRA emphasizes "knowledge, skills, and attitude". We can teach knowledge and skills but attitude is something that comes along...

Water getting into the nose section of my mask

Double-check to make sure you're NOT exhaling through your nose.......I have this problem, quite often actually, and have to consciously think of breathing out through my mouth......usually solves the problem (at least mine)

    Pool Session Incident

Did you tell the ER doc about the events leading up to your chest pain?? Have you contacted DAN (800-446-2671)?? It's not the "bends" I would be concerned about but rather a "lung-overexpansion injury" (due to the possibility of holding your breath and surfacing, with the air further...
