Don't get frustrated, after my my first dive I was so frustrated that I was ready to sell the whole outfit and go back to my backplate. I felt like I had never dove a day in my life! My instructor made some adjustments and the second dive was like no dive I ever had before, so comfortable, it...
Rubber maid tub, about 5 gallons of water and a cup or so of cheap mouthwash; it kills the bacteria and the gear comes out minty fresh!! Hang in the shade to dry.
I just use the cheapest mouthwash that Walmart has; about half a cup to each 5 gallons of water and everything comes out minty fresh. About $5 for two bottles and lasts all summer.
I used Dive log 5 when I was using a PC; since changing to a Mac I have been using Dive Log Manager on my laptop and on my iPhone and iPad. I like the fact that I can create an ad-hoc wireless network and sync the three devices whether I have a network available or not. I do love the print...
+1 for Jim Lapenta's book SCUBA: A Practical Guide for the New Diver, I'm in the process of reading it now. I met Jim over the weekend and he is as interesting as his book! I have read The Last Dive and Shadow Divers so many times I almost have them memorized... but I still go back to read em...

Based on the description, I believe that Traijin and I are using the same shop in Columbus and they are great! I am mostly loyal to them but it is a loyalty that has been earned not expected... attitude make a lot of difference!
"Taking the word of one doctor over the recommendations of the scuba agencies is short-sighted. Where do you think the scuba agencies get the information from which to make their recommendations?"
My first guess would be their lawyers.
Generally; if there was no specific discussion on descent procedure shouldn't the default action be the safest and simplest? in this case guide and diver1 wait on the surface to group up, or am I just over thinking this?
It does seem kind of odd that every article I read says we have no natural predators to deal with them but never go on to say what their natural predators are in their native waters.
I don't think I have ever seen it mentioned but, in the Indo-Pacific where they are native; what are the Lion Fishes natural predators? What keeps them in check over there?
Slightly off topic but the way the pic shows the SMB it would put it between your body and the crotch strap; wouldn't that be more difficult to deploy especially if you were already heavily task loaded? Am I missing something?
