Setting up a Nauticam RX100 for the first time

I would plug the hole on the front of the housing, otherwise you will get some uneven lighting (spot) affecting your shots. One the strobe itself I don't think you need to plug it. I have the YS-D1 and I don't put anything in my substrobe (slave) port

    Macro operation for RX100

Here is my pics from Fiji using RX100 with INON wide angle with dome and INON close up lens (UCL-100). This was based on Interceptor's recommendation. Thanks BTW Inteceptor, Im really happy with the results Fiji 2013 douts - a set on Flickr I didn't take much macro as there was always a lot of...

How do you get the surgical tubing on the pencil? <UW Slate Content>

I use long nose pliers to stretch the tubing. Or try rolling the tubing back then forward onto the pencil.

Want to buy my own tank but have some Q?

One advantage of an Alum tank is they don't rust. My older steel tank (20 yr old) is about to be retired due to rust. I have an Al80 that is older and is still going strong. I recently bought two new steel tanks and both are showing rust stains around the neck after 2 months use. (I soak them...

    Upgrade decisions

Hey Inteceptor, thanks for the great advice. I have one more question regarding the 67 to LD mount. (For a NA-RX100) Compared to a direct 67mm mount, do I lose anything with these lenses given they are further away from the camera when using an adapter. UWL-H100 UCL-100 I understand from...

    Upgrade decisions

Im going with the RX100 in a Nauticam housing with wet lenses. Any recommendations for WA and macro. Im thinking INON lenses. UWL-100 M67 and UCL-100 M67 If I use a 67mm to LD adapter will I get vignetting?

    Upgrade decisions

Thanks Mark, I was trying to get a setup with a greater depth rating. Also my Canon housing leaks a few drops every so often. Thanks for the feedback mjh and Inteceptor. Im looking into the points you have raised. Might come back with a few more Q's afterward!

    Pulau Weh

I enjoyed Weh and went during Ramadan. I had no problems with food. The locals were happy to cook for us as long as we ate inside, not out in the open. I found the diving great and had quite a few pelagics including large dogtooth tuna, mackerel and jacks. Not a lot of sharks but usually one or...

    Upgrade decisions

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade from my current setup to something that is more flexible in terms of WA and super macro capability. Currently I have a G12 in a Canon housing with a S&S YS-d1 strobe. I have some great photos with this setup however Im now thinking about WA and getting more...

Why do tanks get hot when you fill them from higher pressure tanks?

Hey JimmyW, This is a quote from your original post. Here is another perspective for you to consider Re the quote above. It is because of this reason exactly. You must consider the air leaving the fill tank, and the air inside the scuba tank separately. The air leaving the fill tank is...

You shouldnt struggle when your in quicksand!

Why do tanks get hot when you fill them from higher pressure tanks?

From my original example (which was used to simplify things somewhat, while keeping the OP's problem relevant)- the original gas is in one cylinder of certain volume. Now another cylinder is added and the gas allowed to flow into that additional cylinder, hence the gas now is spread across...

Why do tanks get hot when you fill them from higher pressure tanks?

The only thing constant in this system is the number of moles/molecules of the gas/s The overall net pressure has reduced. This has resulted from an increase in volume. Consider also that work must be done to push the air back from the second cylinder into the first cyclinder to restore the...

Why do tanks get hot when you fill them from higher pressure tanks?

I think the point of the OP is that overall the net pressure is dropping from the full tank to the empty one, therefore why is there not a net cooling effect.

Why do tanks get hot when you fill them from higher pressure tanks?

If you have two identical tanks, one full (t1) and one empty (t2) (absolute pressure) joined by a hose, and open the valves on both tanks what happens? 1. The volume of the gas has doubled; the pressure halved-therefore the temperature remains constant. This is known as an isothermal process...
