I've got the Helios 10w light as well. Mine is the focusable enclosed head design. It's decent. The bulbs are extremely fragile though. I went through two in less than two months a couple years ago. I've been extremely careful with it since and have had no other problems with it. One minor...
The Golem notes are identical to the X-Notes. The only difference is the logo on the front cover. They both can hold 3 pencils in the front cover and they have a pocket in the back.
Agreed. I've got two Zeagle ZX/DSV's on my doubles and I really like them. I previously had Apeks ATX-100/FST and Apeks ATX-50/DST regs. Those were nice too but I switched to Zeagle as my LDS carries them and they have the free parts program on annual service. The Apeks I had been diving...
Then the innertubes that came stock on the Halcyon harness must not have been properly sized. The stage or deco tank does not have the same mobility issue as it's out in front, is a way bigger surface, and is a much easier to get to. Hey, if the innertube method works for you great, obviously...
I find it nearly impossible with thick undergarments and dry gloves on to restow the light when the innertube slides all the way down the harness under your arms. Burning two holes in the harness causes no problems at all and there is no fraying or weakness in the webbing at all. I've used...
I use bungee instead. As shown in the attachment below. It stays in place and doesn't slide down the harness after deploying the light. Also makes it possible to stow the lights again with dry gloves on.
My favorite mod to my harness is getting rid of the innertubes for attaching the backup lights and using bungee instead. Burn two holes in the webbing with a soldering iron and insert ends and tie a knot on the back side. The loop stays in place and won't slide down after removing the light...
Sounds like another marketing gimmick to me although Quattros in general are nice fins. I had a pair and liked em' but ditched them for Turtles for the larger footpocket when I went to the drysuit/rockboots a few years ago.
I've got a pioneer 36 wing. If you have the tank straps torqued nice and tight it's plenty stable. I've also used mine with a separate stainless STA and the only noticeable difference I found was that using a separate STA sets the tank a little farther away. Not a big deal. Using the Halcyon...
I've owned both seconds. Currently I'm using the ATX50 and ATX40 seconds. I prefer the ATX's. The lower profile gives me a little less jaw fatique and the mentioned extra bubble interference isn't an issue for me at all.

The morning was chilly enough for ice to skim the standing water in St. Paul's Hidden Falls Park on Sunday. But as Nic Harter hefted on his scuba gear and...

A 21-year-old man was missing and feared dead Sunday after scuba diving with friends in the Mississippi River off Hidden Falls...
I have the Softwear 300G that I use from 70F (about as warm as the water gets in MN) down to about 60F. For water colder than that I use the DUI 400G Thinsulate. I like the mobility of the Softwear better even if I layer additional fleece underneath it. Also it's easier to vent air from the...
I currently have a 2003 "H" model scout light and also own one of Chuck Noe's Photon Torpedo lights. Neither light has flooded on me and I've used both on several dives. The Photon Torpedo is a little thicker, has deeper knurling and uses the standard SL4 light head.
I havethe older style plastic inflator and haven't had any problems with it. I know a couple people that I dive with have the new SS inflators and have had no problems with those either.
