Any one use or have a dive right Nitec computer?

I've used both (and Nitek3, Nitek Plus) VR3 wins hands down.

Which backup computer do you think is best?

Indeed. I understand the mindset that prefers the depth guage/BT/tables approach (because I too have done the courses and learned how to use them). I however prefer to use the technology available to make my diving easier and more enjoyable. I do not agree that just because you think...

    Suunto Dive Manager 2.1.3

Nope. V2.x is a PITA unless maybe you're a D9 owner. I've done a little better in that i can download from a vytec but half the data gets lost. I've decided to stick with V1.6.

But I (and a lot of other people) do.

Which backup computer do you think is best?

Exactly. I am a little bemused by some of the replies above. While I think I understand where you guys are coming from with the SPG issue, I fail to see why you think that an SPG and wrist mounted computer is any different from having an air integrated computer. Both are mechanisms for...

DIY "Deluxe" Oxygen Analyzer: cool idea or stupid overkill?

You guys have far too much time on your hands! Just jealous; I'm afraid that since it's nearly 25 years since I left school I'm way past being able to understand electronics, more's the pity. Best of luck though and thanks for the entertaining links. Perhaps you could build a mixing...

Which backup computer do you think is best?

If you like your Vytec, get a Suunto Cobra; almost identical to your Vytec (without the 3 mixes). Good sensible conservative air-integrated nitrox computer. I haven't had any trouble with my Vytec sender in over 100 dives with it. When you first start using the Vytec it can be a little...

While you're underwater do they just show a "smiley face" on the screen and play the chorus from "Don't worry, be happy"?

    Cressi Archimede vs. SSI tables

After 8 dives in a 48 hour period it doesn't really matter what computer you are using. The data output is nothing more than random number generation when compared to what is actually happening in your body. Mind you. it is of course impractical to attempt to do the same dives using tables...

Deviated Septum Fix it or Not?

I spend my days watching surgeons; I'm an anaesthesiologist (well I'm an anaesthetist where I live; we don't have non medically qualified anaesthesia providers here). There's an old adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Furthermore there's another pertinent one in medicine: "The...

    Sunnto VyTEC/D9 alogrithms

There's not a lot of fact available on the "Suunto RGBM" algorithm, presumably because it's proprietary. Best I can find is here. As best as I can surmise it seems to work by adding a "fudge factor" to its nitrogen algorithm which might even be a Haldanian model (I'm not sure about this at...

What Brand is Your Dive watch???

Even though I wear a Rolex Sub doesn't mean I'm silly enough to actually take it diving with me! They all flood eventually and aren't much use after that.

    Orca Edge

The Orca Edge is a fabulous piece of diving history. I collect old computers and have a great one which I still dive from time to time. If nothing else they're a great talking point, and less likely to kill you than a Bendomatic! http://www.users.on.net/~abowie/bendo.htm
