Dahab - Rude Manager at Red Sea Relax. Buyer beware

DevonDiver, it seems like we have a very different perspective on things. All your posts indicate that it is the customer that owes the business. It is unfortunate that you and others have attempted to steer the conversation towards other issues than customer service. I will let the customer...

Exploding lithium battery. Beware of lithium batteries in diving lights!

There are 3 orings in the handle and one under the glass. hard to say which one leaked as I did not see water in there. After opening the light, it was filled with liquid, what was left from the gas expansion. I doubt it could be battery liquid, but not an expert in this.

Dahab - Rude Manager at Red Sea Relax. Buyer beware

You do like to form an opinion wihtout reading. That was five students, thank you very much. And I think it is a good example of customer service. As for the night dive- with how late it got, it turned out being a snorkle, the group left before I could fill out paperwork, still a great...

Dahab - Rude Manager at Red Sea Relax. Buyer beware

A lot of emotional responses here. I want to thank the people that have given a balanced view that has helped me look at this from a different perspective. For those of you that think talking to the man at six PM was unrealistic - a lot of other shops had been preparing for a night dive. So...

Exploding lithium battery. Beware of lithium batteries in diving lights!

In the end, everything fails. I have lots of expensive lights that burned, flooded, etc. I do not quite see your comment as productive. And who are you, the queen of england to make generalizations like that? ---------- Post added at 12:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:49 PM ----------...

Exploding lithium battery. Beware of lithium batteries in diving lights!

Been buying cheapo chinese lights online to test for possible budget backups for open water. On its first dive, one of the dealextreme 18650 battery powered lights took on water at 18 meters, unnoticed by me. It kept shining, and I could not see water when I looked at the glass. After the dive...

Dahab - Rude Manager at Red Sea Relax. Buyer beware

Thanks all for your comments. I appreciate the input. As to calling "after hours" - the taxi cab driver that inissted he knew the address left me off at the wrong divecenter. When I called the receptionist, he could not direct me to the divecenter either, nor did he know anything about the...

Dahab - Rude Manager at Red Sea Relax. Buyer beware

This little drama is a perfect example of poor customer service by management. I am posting my negative tripadvisor review and the reply to it from Red Sea Relax manager Paul McBeath here. Before you read further, please be aware that this is the first negative dive operations review I have...

How many divers die each year?

Everything is in our head, could not agree more with that one. The text of my entry has unfortunately not entered your head.

Trip Report: Oil Rigs [HD Video]

Amazing. Thanks for sharing! How long it took you to get out there, how did you organize the dive?

How many divers die each year?

Aah, statistics. How many children die in their family's pool? Oh whow, more children drown in pools than by gunfire. How many people are injured by dog bites? Oh wow, so many more than by shark bites. How many people die from scuba related injuries? Not many, see the DAN link given above...

For sale - Poseidon Drysuit size S - Jetsuit Technica -Brand New and Unused A drysuit considered to be the top of the line neoprene exposure suit by many discerning divers. I have a drysuit by POSEIDON, dived it for over 5 years, hundreds of dives on it, and it still has the original zipper...

Shoulder Surgery Recovery Times and Expectations?

I actually had conflicting advice from my surgeon and my rehab specialist. The surgeon wanted me to get as active as early as possible while the therapist wanted me not to move my shoulder at all for a month. Not sure what the specific English wording for my injury is, but it was a torn off...

    a newbie...

With todays internet sales, you can often find top of the line gear for less money than cheapo stuff. You need to familiarize yourself with diving gear and what kind of diving you plan to do in the future. For example, I have bought professional gear for less money than introductory packages...

    Thailand or Vietnam or Philippines

Yeah, they very enthusiastic with their dynamite! I would pick Phillipines, somewhere further out off the list that has been given in replies above. Vietnam would be my least favorite, and in Thailand I would not pick Phuket or Koh Tao.

Do I need new fins for my new drysuit?

There are fins that work better with drysuits than other models, but it all depends on the diving you plan to do. I prefer heavier paddle fins when I dive drysuit. Ankle weights are not something I fancy. Try the fins you have, rent the scubapro or whatever jetfin-turtlefin model available at...

I know this is a can of worms but..........I want to know about drysuits

I do mostly archaeological diving, not fossil diving, but close enough. There is not one holy grail written on drysuits, and the best way for you to figure out what you want is to hire two different models and see what works best for you. The main material difference in drysuits today is the...

Cold water diving without exposure suit

Yeah, the Daily Mail is a source of reliable information, every time. What a bunch of wankers. I know the photographer and diver in question, they were not taming the whales, they were interacting with them. Sure, some self-promotion is involved, but there was a lot more thought and heart put...
