    DSS Bungee Wrist Mount Reviews

Currenty have a Suunto Vyper. Love the computer, hate the wrist strap. I see that DSS makes bungee wrist mounts for Vypers ... anybody have these and if so, how do they perform?

    First computer

I use a Suunto Vyper. Love it ... gives me all the functions that I currently need, easy to use and idiot proof. Just put it on your wrist and jump in the water. I also like the Dive Manager function of it so you can download and log all of your dives. Not crazy about the wrist strap...

What type of fins do use and what do you like about them?

Mares Avanti Quattro ... simple, bullet proof. This classic fin design adapts easily to multiple kicking styles. Great for wreck diving or photography.

    Backplate Advice Needed ...

Purchasing a BP/W setup soon and need some advice ... I'll be diving in the NE (NJ, NY, cold, salt water). For the time being, I'll be using a single HP120 with a slung AL40 pony. Exposure suit is a 7mm full suit with an 6mm vested hood (a lot of neoprene !!!), eventually switching to dry...

Oxycheq Single Tank Wing Sizing Question

I decided on going with a B/W setup for diving but need some advice on wing sizing. I'll be diving in NJ and NY using a single tank for now (varies between an AL80 and HP120) and a slung AL40 as a pony. I also dive with a 7mm wetsuit and 6mm hooded vest. I'm looking at the Oxycheq Mach V...

    Hollis vs. Diverite

A Hollis Solo hog harness and SS backplate is significantly more $$$ than a comparable Diverite hog harness setup. Is there really a difference that justifies the highter cost of Hollis, or would I be paying for the name?

    Hog Harness Question

Is a basic hog harness really comfortable (more so than a back inflate BC)? Or is it used more for its simplicity and customization in tech diving, where comfort is overlooked for practicality? Never having used one, it seems that a hog harness will keep the tanks somewhat loose on your...

    BP/W Setup Advice

I'll be diving singles for now (with a pony bottle), but will probably switch to doubles in the future. Anyone have any advice on purchasing new BP/W setup. I'm looking at OMS, Diverite, Hollis. All seem to have harnesses that range from simple "bare-bones" to "comfort" style; wings that...

Scubapro Knighthawk vs. backplate w/ wings

I'll be doing some NE diving (in NJ and NY). I'm considering purchasing my first BC, a SP Knighthawk. I'm wondering if I should skip that and just get a harness, bp and wing. I'll be diving singles for now, but might very well transition to doubles in the future. Any thoughts?

Aqualung Legend LX for technical diving

If I purchase a AL Legend LX now for a single tank recreational diving setup, would it be suitable for a twin tank setup in the future if I go into more tech-type diving? Or would I need to go for an Apeks, like many threads I read?

    Pony Bottle Regulator Setup

I'm starting to dive more often in the northeast. I'm considering getting the ScubaPro MK2/R295 for my pony bottle. Will that be enough for NE diving conditions, or should I buy a higher end reg (sealed diaphram)?

    Apeks XTX50 DS4 Question

I'm looking at the XTX50 DS4 setup. I like the DS4 over the DST because there's no rotating turret. It seems that this combo only comes in a DIN connection. Does anyone know if it comes in a yoke connection? I'm trying to avoid the DIN - Yoke adapter to keep the 1st stage from sticking out...

ScubaPro A700 Weight / Jaw Fatigue

Question for all you A700 users ... Is its weight ever an issue? Seems to be slightly heavier than other regs due to the metal ... can you feel it in your jaw after diving 40 or so minutes?

Cold water regulator freezing question ...

A response to Mattboy, benchtests show the MK25 to be a better breather. However, just because numbers on paper show one thing, doesn't mean you or I can tell a difference in real life diving.

Cold water regulator freezing question ...

I have been looking at the XTX200 as well as the AL Legend LX. For some reason, my LDS is pushing the MK25 over the MK17 ... so many choices and opinions, it can make your head spin.

Cold water regulator freezing question ...

Makes you wonder if all the cold water freezing/free flowing MK25's you hear about are more of a user error by not tuning properly vs. design problem ...

Cold water regulator freezing question ...

I'll be diving in the North East (NJ and NY) late spring through early fall. For this time frame, should I be concerned with purchasing a reg that performs well in cold water (i.e. SP MK17 vs. MK25), or is water temp not really an issue and should buy a better breather (i.e. SP MK25 vs. MK17)?

    New kit advice

No problems with Scubapro. I'd spend a few extra bucks, though, and upgrade to the Suunto Vyper (you'll get a back light and can download to Suunto Dive Manager, which is a nice tool to track/log dives and analyze them).

    Inhalation adjustment knobs

I'm considering purchasing the Aqualung Legend. Both seem the same except for the LX model having the inhalation adjustment knob. Is diver adjustable inhalation important on a regulator, or is it simply a feature that costs more and adds complexity to the regulator, but that divers really...
