TG-6: Switching between stills and video

I'm seriously considering the TG-6 with the PT-59 housing but have a question for users. How easy/quick is it to switch between taking still photos and video? Is it a 1 button press thing, or multiple steps? I'm very much a newbie/novice photographer and have found I enjoy shooting both...

    Question Camera choice/new/used?

Great info. I'm considering the TG-6 as I like to do both photography and video (but I am a novice). I also like the TG-6 can do macro in both. My curiosity is how easy/quick is it to switch photos and video?

Good dive roller bag with durable wheels?

I have been using LL Bean bags for our dive bags for about 20 years. We have two big ones that are still going strong. They make some seriously durable, well made bags that are nicely sized and priced. Bean's guarantee is still pretty darn good (used be lifetime for any reason up until 2018)...

Breaking in a new mask confusion

Thanks. Ya, noticed the oxalic acid and benzenesulfonic acid used and wondered if it might be too strong, especially given the product manufacturer's warning to not leave it on anything too long. Will probably pick up a can of Bon Ami tomorrow, given it appears to be a bit less aggressive than...

Breaking in a new mask confusion

I think I might give Bon Ami a try on a new mask. Haven't used it on a mask before. Have thought about using Bar Keeper's Friend to clean the inside glass of a new mask but never tried that either. Anyone try Bar Keeper's Friend?

Jam nut for Atomic regulator - anyone have an extra laying around?

A little scarce to find but a few online places do have them...but unfortunately with high shipping costs. Hoping someone might have a spare one they don't need for a fair dollar amount plus cost of a stamp to mail it.

    Expectations using a Cannon G11?

I'm a novice by all means. My underwater photography has been pretty limited and simple over the years but enjoyed it. Had a small Cannon killed in a housing flood (my fault - errant hair) and didn't get back into it. I had a Cannon G11 laying around unused for a long number of years and then...

Question Serial number prefixes on Pelagic Pressure Systems MH8A transmitters

I too reached out to PPS to see if I could find out the branding of my FP serial numbered transmitter but did not get a response (yet). And, my email to Aqualung bounced back as undeliverable. I did pull that FP transmitter out of the sealed bag/packaging and put it on a reg and tank. Works...

    Regulator checklist and inspection

That has been generally my approach and found it to work well. In addition, the precision of an AI transmitter with computer helps to see if there are any slow leaks (short of a water dunking) on the rest of the rig. But, leads me to wonder about the following check (#6 in the list): If...

To lube or not to lube O-rings?

Good discussion in this thread, which got me asking what's the thought on what to use to apply the lube to the o-ring? Finger tip or something like a silicone tip? I have always used a clean finger tip to put just a shine of lube on o-rings but recognize the approach introduces the possibility...

    Traveling Regs

I found a generous sized NorthFace backpack works well to hold our two sets of regulators, two dive computers, and a variety of other miscellaneous stuff for the flight (laptop, iPad, basics, etc). Given airlines pay pennies on the dollar for belongings in lost luggage my thought is put the...

Question Serial number prefixes on Pelagic Pressure Systems MH8A transmitters

I purchased it from a small US shop (via online) and they were uncertain of the transmitter's brand. Teric was used (1 dive in log and looks pristine) and the transmitter was still sealed in plastic bag.

Question Serial number prefixes on Pelagic Pressure Systems MH8A transmitters

Well, it looks like the FP prefix is likely not Shearwater. I have a "new" (got it sealed in plastic bag but has 10/18 date on it) transmitter with the FP prefix and reached out to Shearwater to get some clarity on its origins. (They were super quick to respond). Shearwater confirmed FP was not...

What dive log software works best with Shearwater Teric?

Thank you everyone for the great info and suggestions. I'll very likely stick with MacDive but still tinkering with the others. The very lightly used Teric (1 dive purportedly) arrived, which gave me an opportunity to use that 1 dive and the factory simulated test dive to test downloading and...

Are Pressure Transmitters compatible across brands?

I note from above posts Pelagic is/was the OEM manufacturer for Oceanic (Aeris), Aqualung, Shearwater (now manufacturing its own), and a few others no longer in business. But, how do you tell if the transmitter is branded a Shearwater (legacy version), Oceanic, etc. where there is no actual...
