    Signaling

If you choose to carry a mirror I would strongly suggest coughing up the 10-15 bucks for a good one. The flash created by a CD is laughable compared to that produced by a good mirror. A CD is impressive up close but get a mile away and there is no comparison. Dan

    Bonaire-- 3mm wetsuit or 5mm?

We will be going for the same dates, if you would like to meet up for a dive, lunch, ect PM me. It is my understanding that your 100th dive is supposed to be in your birthday suit. The Sound would be terrifingly cold and in another post on this subject Rick Inman warned of divers feeding the...

    Bonaire-- 3mm wetsuit or 5mm?

I will be in Bonaire the last 2 weeks of February also. It looks like I will be logging my 100th dive while I am there. If the rumors I have heard about proper attire are true for the 100th dive I thank God I won't be in the Puget Sound at that time of year.

    I need your help

Matt, The anouncment implies that for those of us who do not attend the fund raiser, our full donation goes to your project. Is this correct? Dan

    refinishing tanks

The reason hydro stamps don't affect the strength of the tank is because the tank is very thick at the top. You will notice stamping is only allowed on the top.

    refinishing tanks

I just got done taking the tank inspections course. If a tank has a baked on finish that was done by the factory to a new tank then the baking was factored into the final tempering of the metal. If you do a baked on finish after the tank left the factory you have just created a bomb. We...

    Bummer

Is it really a problem? If I had a backup diver or tender that I didn't trust in the given situation I could thumb the dive no questions asked. Every dive team needs a system of checks and balances and ultimately this is the most powerful one of all. Dan

    New Rescue Procedures?

At my last first aid / cpr class they told us about a study being done in California (I think it was California) where rescues were being done with the compression only system and the survival statistics were going to be compared to the breath with compression system. The study must have been...

    Logging, OW vs pool

I log my training dives but I don't give them a log number. This way I have a record of all of my training dives (this can be very important for a Public Safety Diver) but I don't artificially inflate my number of dives.

Rocket Ascents... Can divers breach like a fish (split from Accident in Mich)

If the 180# object and the 2# object are made of the same material and have the same basic shape so as to have an equal air resistance they will travel to the same height at the same speed and then fall to the earth at the same speed also.

    dive training ideas

Practice rope search patterns. Practice with mask taped over for zero visibility conditions Practice removing injured divers gear while in the water and loading said diver in a boat. Practice using tools underwater (scissors, wrench’s, float bags, fill tanks for float bags, ect) Practice and...

I'm glad we are not as busy as you Gary

Greg, Is there a date set for the Vantage dive yet? I am still down in AZ and will be for many more weeks, but I do try to fly home for the weekend every 3 to 5 weeks. By the way that dive we did at Upper goose lake in february is the last dive I've done. When I came down here they told...

    Recovery Dive: Mexico

I don't want to second guess another teams decision to make the dive, but I do think this dive could start and interesting discusion about risk versus reward. I am most relieved that you yourself made this post and not a mourning team mate. Best wishes and safe diving, Dan
