Printing pictures developed with Canon DPP

A color managed workflow is not an easy concept. I use Color Eyes Display Pro with a Spyder 3 Colorimeter. I print at home using an Espon Pro 3880 with Image Print 8 RIP software. The Image Print paper profiles are amazing. Softproofing is a critical step, IMO, to seeing how your prints...

    Nemrod

Puffer is correct about DPP. All RAW file formats are proprietary so software developers (Adobe, Apple) must crack the code to convert the files. DPP will always produce the best results however Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and Aperture do a fine job and the differences are going to be negligible...

I will chime in on software. I use Lightroom 3 and Aperture 3, depending on the photo. Aperture is mac only, LR is PC or mac. With either application, you should be able to get the same results however one may be harder than the other depending on the photo. I find that Aperture does a much...

Anyone have any experience with Sea & Sea YS-01?

going to be using a FIX housing with the G11. It will be delivered to me on Friday. I decided to go with a more powerful strobe (inon z240) and one that will be compatible with my SLR should I choose to go that route. My SLR does not have onboard flash.

Anyone have any experience with Sea & Sea YS-01?

I have heard it it very similar to the Inon S-2000 but the controls on the S&S are easier to access. Can anyone comment?

Fiji - Matamanoa - September 2010 (last week)

I honeymooned on Matamanoa in 2005 and had a fabulous time. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the diving as a health issue limited me to floating on top of the water. Congratulations and have a great time.

    What makes housings so expensive?

I hear you on the expensive thing. My other hobby is modding my car and nothing is cheap in that space. I am ready to pony up on the housing. I want to get the shots. I have basically decided to go with the G11 since I already have one.

    What makes housings so expensive?

Thanks all. I would have never figured this out if Rainer did not tell me it was market forces ;) I had no idea that there was so much manual labor involved in making these. Thanks for the insight.

    What makes housings so expensive?

I get the part about being waterproof and not corroding from salt water but a lot of housings cost more than the camera bodies. Is it really justified or are we taken advantage of when it comes to pricing?

Deciding on a setup is tougher than I thought

Oh man. Now I am even more confused. It seems like there is no clear cut answer between the G11 and S9X. Tradeoffs with both systems. I just want ease of use, small is good and best image quality given the limitations of P&S.
