    Bauer Varius

Yep, air enters from the first stage (middle), then goes to the second stage (close to motor) and is finally transferred to the third stage. Changing rings is fairly straight forward, but you should hone the bore first to remove ridges/scratches/marks and make sure it is within spec or changing...

    Valve Service Question

I buy all my valve parts from Northeast Scuba Supply as individual parts and I do tend to replace most things with each service. Copper crush washers can be reused once by putting them on a flat surface with some 400 grit wet and dry on the base and just moving the washer back and forth till the...

Valves to a fill station panel

Rjack is right, mostly we use the Sherwood panel valves, but the ones with the thread an nuts for panel mounting if you are going to put a fancy stainless cover on your panel: Scuba Compressor Oxygen, however for partial pressure filling through your panel should be a needle valve, Hoke, Parker...

How to tie a knot or terminate a bungee line?

I use a double overhand knot, pull it tight and melt the ends. Works well and is easy to do time and time again. Double Overhand Stopper Knot | How to tie the Double Overhand Stopper Knot | Climbing Knots

Gasoline exhaust and intake air placement for trailer.

It's as simple as this. You want the smallest restriction to be at the compressor inlet on the compressor, everything connected to that should be larger. 3/4 is good for about 5 feet but if you were going to run it 18 feet, I'd be making the whole thing 2 to 3 inches and then only reduce it when...

To drain or not to drain

There are a few things that can cause this and you will just have to go through and methodically check each part. 1. Your OPV, which you showed a picture of. Pull it down, replace all o-rings, clean all surfaces and check for corrosion. Replace parts or valve as necessary. 2. Leaking PMV, this...

    Bauer PE 200

Understood. I'm diving a rebreather, to tech depths, so need to ensure I don't have any trace gas issues. My P21 SS cartridge was about AUD$280 from memory, but by the time I added felt pads, AC and MS, the bill was around AUD$400. The P31 may be more than the P21, but it shouldn't be much...

    Bauer PE 200

I still wouldn't do it regardless of if it has an ACD or not. In the big scheme of things, the cost of a stainless repackable filter cartridge at around $300 AUD is pretty small for piece of mind. Some of the PE200's seem to come with the P21, which is smaller again and rather inadequate for a...

    Bauer PE 200

Okay, nice concept but then you introduce another issue, which is that you let all the oil and crap run through the PMV located on the base of the P31 and along the lines. This will eventually lead to the PMV failing - so be ready to get your wallet out as anything with Bauer on it is expensive.

    Bauer Compressor- B-Timer

The TinyTach works well for petrol powered compressors and something like a Kuebler works well for electric power Timer HR76 - Electromechanical - Hour Meters / Timers - Counting Technology - Kübler Group I use the Kuebler for my system, but you can get cheaper ones on eBay if you like. I'm not...

    Bauer PE 200

The PE200 comes with the Bauer P31 triplex filter, same as the Mariner 200. Now the issue is four fold: 1. The OPV is located on top of the P31 2. The PMV is located on the bottom of the P31 3. You can't really remove the P31 without doing a lot of plumbing and putting an aftermarket OPV and PMV...

    LED light flickering

Ok, so it is easy for me to say, you get what you pay for :-) but that's not very helpful to you. It is most likely one of two things: 1. A bad LED driver circuit - solution is to throw it away. 2. A poor connection with the battery - try stretching the spring or putting some multiple folded...

MK 25 service of seat o-rings.

Good to hear you have it working as it should be now and it is great that you followed it up with the resolution, as most don't. It was the most likely thing to be at fault and unfortunately, I see this type of shoddy service from supposedly 'Qualified and Factory Trained' service techs all too...

    Leaking drysuit inflator valve

It is a Sitech valve, you first need to remove the logo cover off the front, which will expose an allen head cap screw and then use a socket on the back to hold the nut. Getting a socket to fit on is impossible, so you may need to grind one down thinner in the walls like I did. From there it is...

MK 25 service of seat o-rings.

It is much the same here with difficult access to parts kits and knowledge for non manufacturer trained folks, but Frogkick offers all the manuals and I'm able to buy parts kits online. The only thing I haven't been able to find is a good source for the latest technical updates for Apeks and...

MK 25 service of seat o-rings.

As previously mentioned, a leak from the ambient pressure chamber is usually, the 010 o-ring, part 22 in the previous diagram. If you don't use an 85 or 90 duro o-ring and substitute it for a softer 70 duro o-ring, it will A) Leak or B) Not last very long. A friend of mine recently rang me with...

    Proper use of humidity indicators?

It is interesting to note that as soon as you remove them from the sealed wrapper, they start turning from blue to magenta. When you install it, put it in the moisture indicator housing top part and apply a little heat from a heatgun or hairdryer. This will turn it back to blue again and keep...

    Swagelok Ball Valve performance

Ball valves have no place in oxygen systems - period. The more complex our panels become, and the more valves that have to be opened and closed in specific orders with these complex systems, the easier it is for us to make a human mistake that can cost a life.
