I absolutely agree with this. The problem is that most people don't have a "feel" for how much they burn or how much food is too much or even what foods have how many calories. That's what I had to learn before I could lose weight.

Hmmmm, that's about 500-600 calories. Considering that you probably burned that much doing the rock climbing. I'd say you should be losing about 2-4 lbs per week. Is that what you're seeing?

I used a palm program called e-diet manager, it really helped me, but I do think there are probably better palm programs out there.

A larger tank is a great idea, in fact it's one of the reasons that makes getting your own tanks worth it. I've been working on my air consumption and I cannot seem to get it down to where my dive buddy's is either, but When I strap on Steel 95's it evens things out for us.

I just got some Tusa Split fins for my wife, but we haven't had a chance to test them out yet. She has had a hard time keeping up with me and my Blades in the past. (She had been using some junk Dacor Pursuit fins that she bought for their looks when we got certified.)

I don't dive with a lift bag, but I should. I've got a bunch of carter bags (Best bags around) lying around and I'm always finding an anchor or weight belt.

Most valuble: Dive shears, always the best for getting out of monofilament. Least valuble: Oceanic Data Plus 2, dang thing flooded on me.

I just wear a regular swim suit. I imagine the lycra ones would be nice too. If I was buying a swimsuit just for diving I might go that way, but if I'm going to ever use it in a pool I'd rather not wear something that looks like bike shorts.

I'm with everyone else. Wait until after the class. Take a few more dives. See what you like/don't like. Ask around about particular equipment, read reviews, do your research and then buy. I personally think a wetsuit is the best first purchase because it pays for itself in so few dives, others...
