Costa Rica in July- Play Del Coco- seeking recommendations

Gordon rocks was better, but far more expensive and a two tank dive was 7:00 am - 3:00 pm. So that’s a negative for me. I think Gordon rocks is very comparable to Bat Island (Bull shark dive) though.

Costa Rica in July- Play Del Coco- seeking recommendations

Galapagos, Turks and Caicos, Bahamas, Grand Cayman, PDC Mexico, Barbados, Curacao, Roatan, All over Hawaii, Azores, Jamaica, I’m sure I’m missing some. Bottom line, if you’re looking for good viz and coral, it’s not the place. If your looking for bigger stuff and large schools of fish, it’s...

Costa Rica in July- Play Del Coco- seeking recommendations

I really like the diving there, but my local dive buddy went and didn’t seem to enjoy it as much (no coral). But if you like big stuff it’s great diving. I’ll be there next week for 2 weeks and doing 12-15 dives.

Costa Rica in July- Play Del Coco- seeking recommendations

I have no idea what the bull shark season is, but I’ve done the Bats dive 5 times over 3 years and saw lots of bull sharks on all but the first dive. All during August.

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

Big stuff in CR yeah, Bats is expensive at $165 for 2 dives (but still cheaper than the $205 I paid for Gordon Rocks), I would say Bat islands is comparable to land based Galapagos. Catalina is $135 (lots of large schools of fish), local diving (Playa Del Coco) is about $85. Prices are for 2...

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

I’ve done Gordon Rocks 4x - still prefer CR. Land based Galapagos only so no arch.

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

I preferred it to Roatan, haven’t been to Coz. Even put it above Galapagos for me (when you consider Price / ease of diving)

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

I really like it, big schools of fish, sharks, eagle rays, large stingrays, moray eels everywhere. It’s not super clear (20-40 ft viz) due to the mixing currents. My favourite place to dive. I’m going again in 2 weeks but skipping the bull shark dive this time because my 13 year old is depth...

    Costa Rica for Checkout Dives?

Costa Rica is my favourite place to dive, Rocket Frog has several locations, they do beach pickups too if it’s close by. I stayed at the Riu and they picked me up. Catalina Island is a really nice dive with lots of white tips, the Bat Island Trip (not for beginners) is the best dive I’ve...

I'm pretty sure it was the mangrove 67mm filter.

I would say that CineD isn’t really necessary, but I have no evidence to back it up. As for a red filter, I can get better, more natural colours without one. BUT you have to do a bit of work in post to get there. With a red filter it will look better out of the camera, however I can never get...

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

My best dive there started with a giant pacific manta as soon as we hit the bottom, followed by 15 bull sharks circling us for 40 minutes. At one point I could see 9 at the same time, and viz is abut 30-40 feet. It's not a baited dive either, the bull sharks are just there and come to check...

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

That was my LX10, mostly shot in 1080 60FPS slowed down 50%. I'm super picky about stabilization so your comment is reassuring:)

    Best Diving in Costa Rica?

The pacific side of CR is probably my favourite place to dive, I dove Catalinas, Bat Islands and local diving around Playa Del Coco. All of my diving in CR (30 ish dives) have been with Rocket Frog divers and I highly recommend them. They have a few shops including in Playa Del Coco and...

I assume those limitations are for the Ikelite housing only as the nauticam has full control, I can’t speak to that. Your second part of the question, the 4K can’t be recorded in 3:2, only 16:9, with 36mm being the widest in 4K. Since you will get vignetting up to 32mm anyway with the...

I think there is a red filter you can put on the outside of the UWL-h100 but I’m not sure which one. Those depths were between 30-90 feet, most were around 40-50 feet. The water was not super clear either (25-35 ft viz).

Here are a couple examples of the LX10 with the INON wide, this is with the Nauticam housing but results should be similar: This video is in HD (exported as 4K), but it’s purpose is to show how good the custom white balance is, no red filter or lights used: This video is in 4K, colour...

It’s been a while since I did it, but I’m pretty sure all you see is a new profile with no name (the profile name will be blank). Then you save it as a custom profile and assign it to C1. You won’t see any of the built in profiles until you restore them back. But again, it’s been a while.
