    Question for Fort Lauderdale Divers

If I had a vehicle I would. But, I usually do not rent a car when I come to these conferences as they are in big hotels with places to eat around them.

    Question for Fort Lauderdale Divers

It was pretty rough indeed. The Capt. said the wind was around 20+ knots all day. We did two dives. One on the Mercedes and one a wreck they call Hog Heaven. I dived EAN 32, so I had really good bottom time. I was the last one to surface both times. :) The wrecks were pretty cool. I am never...

    Question for Fort Lauderdale Divers

I have looked into the area. I googled it like you suggest and I found a ton of places. I am looking for personal recommendations. I asked the same thing when I went to LA and the local knowledge on here pointed me in the right direction. I only threw the wing part in there as extra. By relaxing...

    Saint Andrew Jetty Dive Shop

I will. I downloaded the NOAA tide app and I will call one of the local shops to confirm the day before. From what I have read the best time to hit it around high slack tide. So I will try to do one dive starting 30 minutes or so before and finish the last within and hour or so of high tide.

    Weight Calculator

Thanks for the help guys!!! I am doing a boat dive with Emerald Coast Scuba. I really find it odd that I have to pay for the tanks extra. In CA, the boats had the tanks on board and included. I will also probably be doing a dive at the Saint Andrews Jetties in Panama City. I was thinking that AL...

    Weight Calculator

Someone posted a link to an easy weight calculator to help get weight in the ballpark and I cannot find it. I also do understand you still need to do a weight test. I ask because last time I dived the DM did a proper weight check on me and I used 16# of lead in addition to my 6# SS plate. This...

    Saint Andrew Jetty Dive Shop

I am probably going to dive the Saint Andrew's Jetties next week in Panama City. On the write up it says there is a dive shop there that is open during the summer to rent tanks from. Does anyone know the hours and/or phone number of these folks? I would like to get a tank or two from them...

    Visiting Destin Area

I am doing one dive trip with Emerald Coast Scuba. I may have to do 2 just to get to dive since I cannot find anyone who wants to go. Since I will have my wife and kids with me, I cannot just go hit the scuba shops to try to find someone. I am debating just doing some shallow (as in less than...

    Visiting Destin Area

Hey folks! I will be in town between Destin and Panama City at a state park the week of July 9-13. I am looking for anyone who would like to do maybe some shore dives or something. This worked well for me in California and I meet some awesome guys, so I figured I would try here. I am probably...

What is the line you draw for patronage of a shop?

Trying to shove the one major brand you carry down my throat! My local LDS, only one for 2 hours, only stocks SP. That is it. Maybe some different flashlights. And they push stuff hard. I really lilke my SP fins, booties and mask. I got those doing my OW through them. I went a different route...

    Sunday Catalina Dive Report

I figured I would post my report from my other thread so maybe more folks can see it. I went diving Sunday on the Sundiver Express out of Seal Beach. The dives cost $100 and I hired Julie as a DG for $100. I had a blast. Julie is wonderful and a hoot to be around. There were five certified...

Sunday Catalina Dive Trip Buddy Needed

I know we dove one point called Pirates Cove and one called Yellowtail Point I believe. We dove another that had a good deal of kelp, but I do not remember the name of it. By my computer, the coldest we saw was 50 degrees and warmest was 62. We only went to 42 feet and stayed between 18 and 33...
