Sorry, that was my misunderstanding. The Expedition body is not an add on for the current body it is a stand alone Two piece long body that holds 4 batteries. I thought the front piece was the same as the current (travel body) but it is wired differently to make the system work with the 4...
Both scooters are vinyl wrapped. There is virtually no mechanical noise produced by these scooters since they are direct drive. The noise is caused by the variation in electrical flow through the coils of the motor. DiveX reprogrammed the drive control to perfectly match the pulses of electrical...
LOL Yeah my Scubaboard handle was from the scary days of the internet when everyone tried to stay anonymous. Now most people use their real names and I have to admit, it's a lot less confusing.
The BlackTip is an absolute beast of a scooter. I have used it to pull me and my buddy. Both of us in drysuits. Me, a 230 pound guy with a rebreather and her with a sidemount bailout. And it will still go fast enough to try and pull my mask off.
Here is a pic of my Blacktip cap showing how much shot I use. I usually dive in British Columbia and it sits almost perfectly neutral. in the Puget sound it is just slightly negative. This is with the Dewalt DCB612 12ah batteries.
I have a Piranha P2 but 98% of the time I run it as a P1. Same power and performance and more than enough burn time for an entire dive spent on the trigger. And on top of that its extremely small and light weight. Then, for my second or third dive I just drop in a fresh set of batteries. No...
This is a picture of me with my BlackTip. https://dive-xtras.com/blacktip-dive-scooter/ You can see the clip off that I have on the shroud. As for the weight of the cap, that was 2.5lbs TOTAL weight for the cap, plate and shot. Not to add 2.5 pounds of shot into the lid. If you added 2.5...
There is a big price difference between the $8,000 Piranha and the $1,500 Blacktip. The Battery module for a Piranha is nearly the cost of a Blacktip scooter but you are comparing apples and oranges. You could complain that the door panel of a Lamborghini costs almost a much as a new Kia sedan...
I have found an effective way to eliminate the issue of splashing water when pulling the cap. You can just drape a small towel over the nose before pulling it off. The towel will catch any water flying off before it can fall into the scooter.
Hey RNG. You can get the BlackTip pretty close to trim in salt water by weighting the nose cone and using 5ah batteries. Though it does still settle tail down when unsupported so I don't think its feasible to make it perfectly trim in fresh water unless you can modify it to bring both batteries...
I've been diving the Blacktip since early October and have about 40 hours of dive time on it. I was a bit skeptical about the button trigger at first too. Its a thumb trigger and the double tap for go single tap for slow is actually pretty easy to get used to. The trigger design also takes care...
I am interested in the Nauticam 180mm dome port and N85-N120 port adapter that you have listed for sale. Where are you located and how much are you asking for this two parts?
