    Union Island And Palm Island?

Planning a trip there with wife and parents to Palm Island. My dad and I are the only divers and we are wonder how is it diving there? I normally dive cold Great Lakes and have also dived in Belize. To be honest I do prefer the wrecks of the Great lakes, though the best dive of my life was in...

Looking for non-touristy that is great not just for divers

We love Belize so much, we have been there 4 times, though my family is wanting to a new destination to get the "band back together". We liked how non-touristy and non-college-party-ish Belize was, though we are wanting to try some place new. We love good food, local crafts, hiking, biking...

Why do people remove artifacts from wrecks?

Lots of interesting feedback and debate. All the wrecks I have dived are in the Great Lakes area. While I don't have any qualms about people removing objects that are not associated with a wreck. I have seen areas where people have put objects, from when they have been removed and I appreciate...

Why do people remove artifacts from wrecks?

I have dove over a dozen wrecks so far and I noticed how they seem like empty shells in some cases. I see portholes gone, anchors missing, and other key parts missing on a lot of wrecks. I also see a lot of different artifacts on display at various dive shops, such as the missing artifacts I...

    Service or sell a Regulator

I picked up an old regulator, Sherwood Magnum Blizzard w/ a shadow octo, and a full console for $30 locally. I was thinking of using it as a backup or using it as a way to learn how to service a reg. Though i am seeing there is a hog regulator for sale for $180 w/ 1st, 2nd stages, and hose. With...

Thinking about doing the DM course...

I have been wishy/washing about doing this the past 2 years. I thought I had finally brushed off taking the course, though after talking to a diver I respect a lot, it might have changed my mind. This buddy is a DM and has more regs (mostly double hose) in his basement than any dive shop I have...

How many have seen dolphins on their dive?

I dove with them in Belize and got it all with my gopro. If you go to youtube.com and search "windows2000bug" you can see one of my videos of them. I have never felt uncomfortable being around marine life, with the exception of a large Dolphin swimming to close for comfort and looking right at...

    D1 Hog vs other regulators

Thank you that explains a lot. I do not really like to go with the "pomp and circumstance". I do like helping the little guy out and the cost of servicing my regulator current can could pay for that in 2 years lol. I would be very interested in learning how to service my own gear. It seems to...

Switching fins, need to switch teniques?

I have been using a pair of split Scuba Pro jet fins, I recently picked up an old used pair of decor knock offs of the original black jet fin by scuba pro. A lot of the old salts I dive with swear by them and at $7 I couldn't say no. I normally do the flutter kick and sometimes the dolphin and...

Thinking of servicing my own regulators

I have 3 regulators now: 1) Aqualung Titan LX (primary) 2) US Divers (Pony) 3) Sherwood Blizzard Magnum (planned backup) At $30-$40/stage for labor I am thinking of servicing my own regulators. I have found out that I have been more displeased when leaving it to the "professionals", when it...

    D1 Hog vs other regulators

I currently have a Titan LX from aqualung and paid a bit of money for it when I first got into diving from LDS. I see the Hog D1 is priced a lot lower than most other regs, I am curious why it is cheaper than many other regulators. I have seen good reviews of it and I am question why people...

Hoseless computer alone or with backup

I have an oceanic atom 2 w/ transmitter. I have a SPG clipped to my power inflator hose as backup. If i lost all connection I wouldn't have to abort the dive. I got the wireless for easy logging.

Issues with one of the local shops.

I have been diving since 2011 and there are three stores in my area. One store has me a little concerned about their approach to scuba diving. While they have the nicest looking store in town and their training is very good, they are very pushy and a little rude to some people, when it comes to...

When did Scubapro stop making an orange BCD?

Thanks for the feedback, I spoke to some guys in the vintage forum as well as a friend that loves vintage equipment and only dives with double hoses. He advised against it. The Air2 gen 2 that the BCD has was last built over 25 years ago in 1989. While the serviceable parts from the air2 gen2...

    Orange Classic Scubapro BCD

Decided against it, he first said it was about 15 years old though it has to be much older than that. When I looked at it he said his son use to use it when he was a teenager and that his son is 35, so it is 20 years at least, I also looked into the regulator which is a gen 2 air2 and they quit...

    Orange Classic Scubapro BCD

Someone I know is selling a scubapro orange classic bcd. It has an regulator integrated into the power inflator and it looks in good condition. He is selling it for $65 and won't budge on price. He says if we have an issue, we can return it. It inflates and I can breath out of the regulator. I...
