    SCUBA in Commercial Diving

I like using the anti freeze before blowing with compressed air, as the compressed air drives the salt water deeper into bearings and other components, where it otherwise might not have penetrated.

    whats your cure ?

Tuborg in Pondicherry :-) I had a disastrous experience going into Saturation the morning after a heavy night out in Aberdeen. This was many years ago when I was young and reckless. It has made me as a very moderate drinker ever since. Usually a couple of beers in the evening.

    Inversion and Blood Pressure

I have recently started doing inversions with gravity boots as part of my workout regime. I really like it, and have found it to be very beneficial. I have been told that it is medically not advisable and can pose an increased threat of stroke due to increased blood pressure in the brain. I was...

Sidemount class July 13,14 with Steve Lewis report.

I came very close to doing some training with Steve, but a medical procedure kept me out of the water at the time. From everything I hear from the divers who did make the course, he is the Zen master of the underwater world. look forward to a second chance !

CO - how high will you go?

Tests were conducted on Saturation divers living in enclosed hyperbaric environments for a long period of time. Since CO is a gas that humans excrete with every exhalation, albeit in very small quantities, it was studied to see how much this increases in the course of a deep Saturation dive...

    Piston or Diaphragm

I used Kirby Morgan regulators very deep, but now use Scubapro MK25 and MK17. One is piston (MK25) and one is diaphragm (MK17). They are both spectacular. So was the Kirby Morgan, but I dont have to sell my house to get the Scubapro's serviced. ---------- Post added July 17th, 2013 at 09:56 AM...

CO - how high will you go?

Carbon Monoxide binds to the haemoglobin inhibiting the Oxygen molecules from binding. CO binds more readily to the haemoglobin than O2 does. As you increase the partial pressure of CO (as you go deeper) this gets more significant. Essentially your blood carries lower oxygen levels, until it...

A little peek into our world ...

Well ... it was my first dive deeper than thousand feet, and while the work may appear mundane - it was a valve replacement - the amount of work and the logistics involved in doing the work at those depths makes it interesting. I saw the ROV footage as well as the footage from the Bell camera...

    Dabbling in deco

Steve - I bought the Kindle edition as part of my 'ahem' prep before you came here ... the book is very scrambled in the Kindle edition. I hope to borrow Robs once he is done with it.

A little peek into our world ...

Yeah ... we were discussing that on the Commercial Divers sub forum. We aren't usually allowed access to footage from cameras and ROV's. There is extensive footage form several cameras of every step we take. The Oil companies and their contractors protect it quite fiercely. I tried getting ROV...

    Broco Torch

Tunakiller - do not attempt what you are planning to. Tuna will not be the only thing you will be killing. Burning and cutting is serious business, and accounts for a large number of accidents in EXPERIENCED commercial divers . If you do not vent your work piece whilst cutting for salvage, there...

commercial divers, is there a demand?

If you have the will to succeed - you will succeed. It will involve being patient and being relentlessly hard working. But there is no reason you cant make it. It is related to your own commitment to making a career of it.

Thinking of becoming a rescue diver....

There will obviously be times where something totally unexpected happens, but for the VAST majority of times, they can be pre empted by paying attention to subtle detail. You certainly need to train for when things go pear shaped, but the idea is, that you can invest in the time to look for the...
