    Pollinices bifasciatus photo?

I'm publishing a series on shell collecting, in a magazine for teenagers. The articles are about our trips to Baja, and I really need a photo of a striped moonsnail (pollinices bifasciatus) on the prowl, with its mantle exposed. Does anyone have a good-quality photo that I could use? The...

    Royal wedding guest name

In honor of the big wedding on Friday, let us know your royal wedding guest name. Start with either Lord or Lady. Your first name is one of your grandparents' names. Your surname is the name of your favorite sea creature, double-barreled with the name of the place you took your first dive. Just...

    want to know

Wow, I bet you never thought you'd get all this input! LOL I just wanted to say that when you dive down 10 ft or so while snorkeling, it can be very hard to equalize your ears in the head down position, and they will start to hurt at that depth. When you're diving, you will usually descend...

rough seas in GBR vs. other places?

Just got back from a liveaboard on the Spoilsport, Jan. 18-21. It was quite rough and rainy. THe last two nights were miserable. There was usually quite a current, and getting back on the boat was often an adventure. Anyway, the crew was great, the food was good, and the dives were...

    Remora friend

I was on a dive with a friend in the Philippines, and a remora attached to my friend. I thought it was pretty funny until the thing ditched my friend and settled onto me! It felt really weird, and it wouldn't leave until I got into shallow water and stood up!

Newspaper article on Philippine coral reefs

Every year I go back to Palawan to dive, the reefs are a little bit more torn up. I see fishermen out walking on the corals at night, during low tide. I know they need to make a living but it hurts to see it. And then the trash.... It was indeed an evil day when plastic was invented. I fear it...

Wrinkles/Twinduct- Do you prefer to beach walk or swim??

I'd swim. Why would i want to carry all that heavy gear when the water could do it for me?

    Great Barrier Reef in January?

Sorry for not being more specific. We want to dive the GBR, so will fly Cairns from Sydney, and then fly out of Cairns for the U.S. Should we consider a liveaboard? I thought maybe Sun nite in Cairns, 3 nights on a liveaboard, and Thursday nite in Cairns before flying out. Maybe that will be...

    Great Barrier Reef in January?

My son and I will be in Australia in January on business and will have a few days to do some diving. I'd much appreciate any advice or information on diving the GBR at that time of year. We need to know everything! Thanks!

best way to layer a 3mm and a vest or shorties?

For quite a while I used a 2mm and wore a shorty over it. It worked well except it took extra long for the water to saturate, and I always had trouble descending on the first dive of the day until everything got good and wet.

    Philippine Solo

I would do the same. What a dream to live where you can dive whenever you want! We live on a lake but viz is poor and the water is really cold so it has zero diving appeal to me. I like diving, but it isn't an end in itself for me. I am very happy with what I do for a living, but if I had...

    Philippine Solo

I saw a thread here about women who solo, so I thought I'd share my experience.... I never thought I'd do any intentional solo diving but recently I spent a couple weeks on a diving island in the Philippines. I have done shore dives there so many times, and I was tired of trailing behind the...

Mares Trilastic 5-4-3 wetsuit Ladies' size 10 Almost new

I did a lot of research to find a wetsuit that was warm, supple, and easy to enter. Also wanted something attractive. Settled on the Marest Trilastic 5-4-3. I used it on a couple back-to-back dives in Hawaii. It was perfect in all counts. Except.... I am too small for this size 10, so I'm...

    Settings on Wisdom Console Computer

I have my computer tethered to a D-ring on my BC harness, so it never gets too far off. Still, I think sometimes I have pulled the computer toward me too quickly. But I usually do very slow horizontal ascents, watching the bubbles. Awareness is helping .... I have found a few situations where I...
