I wanted to chime in here. I dive almost exclusively with Island Ventures when I dive in the Keys. They are the most flexible and accommodating dive operator that I have ever used in the Keys. I will continue to give them my business and look forward to diving with there operation everytime I...
For the price tag of the trip ($2000 plus) they should provide use of the required safety items as part of the trip cost.....at no additional charge for those who forget the safety equipment. Thats goodwill and good marketing.....
Human Physiology is wonderful thing. There are never any guarantees. I have heard of people blowing off 30 mins of deco with no ill effects and on the other side a person embolizing in 5 feet of water at the pool. You may be able to run the same dive profiles for years and then one day you...
Training can be done a few places:
Any overhead class will train you in the use, A DIR-F class will instruct you, Most all Agency Tech programs teach it.
If you are untrained it can be a burden and if not stowed correctly can be dangerous on exits and entrys and deployment in OOA...
Now your thinking in the right direction.....
You seriously want me to answer how a 2.5ft hose is easier than a 7ft hose is to handle. Why do you put a bolt snap on your long hose?
It only takes that once.....Murphys law
It is rarely up to you in these situations......
Be careful with complacency here.....I supervise or dive with hundreds of different divers every month. If a guy with a long hose and necklace came on board, would you assume they had their act together? No...I am sure you wouldnt. You would conduct a interview with them and talked about a...
Wasnt referring to the deployment....was referring to post procedure. Not a smart idea to put a diver in front of you unless you have to...like in overhead which you had better be trained and experienced to begin with.
Have you ever used a 7 ft hose on an ascent then messed around with it...
It takes a trained diver that knows the routine to apply this particular practice in the field...ie...real situation. Most divers do not know the drill of using a long hose or how to use it in an emergency. I count less than 5 percent of divers use it in open water and that is generous. That...
I considered Tech Diving for like 5 years....in that 5 years I went through about 5 computers for various reasons....too conservative...too aggressive....too annoying....broken and unservicable, how about a trade up(Oceanic loves that line)
Most Tech divers follow tables or V-planner anyways...
D8 is a big light but has a wide beam...for $50 its a deal. The C8 LED is not as big a bit brighter and last longer on battery life. Is it worth the extra $39....you decide. I have both. I use the one with the most battery left to be quite honest. That goes for all of my lights.... I have...
If it works for you, go for it.
Love to hear what the DIR folks are gonna say about this one...=)
Biggest problem I have with integrated Octos is that they are all junk. They constantly come out of adjustment and seem to always be leaking a bit. I was constantly tweaking them for...
The brand new diver that just got certified last weekend is "usually" pretty good in the water. Within reasonable conditions. Its the diver that hasnt dove in 2 or more years that you have to worry about. Thats the one that will make a dumb decision and cause the most trouble for you. I dive...
Cosidering the tech route....I have 5 AL30's once used as pony's....if I needed more gas could I just sling two 30's with 100%? Its a small tank and probably easier than trucking an 80 around. Curious.
I go through these shears like every 3 months...i am not messing around with ordering them on-line to save 3 dollars...i goto my dive shop and I get them same day.....It cost me an extra $12 dollars per year and my dive shop takes care of me in other ways because I am a loyal...
