Curacao - Sept - Where to stay?

We stayed at Lodge Kura Hurlanda a month ago. Great place! Staff was very nice, property was well maintained. We shore dove the house reef (Alice in Wonderland). Dive shop located by beach. We saw very few kids. Kids must be with an adult at all times and we saw it enforced. Some tips if you...

    Diving an active rock quary

I have dove in some local, active gravel pits on Sundays. They stop operation on Friday. The water blue and look clear from shore but decend two feet and you have 0 to 1 ft vis. I would avoid active pits. Tim

Did not stay there but used the dive op and did our orientation dive there. I liked the dive op and will use them again next year. Just returned yesterday from Bonaire, my sixth trip. We stayed for the first time at Happy Holiday Homes. A very good bargain. The rooms were very clean and the staff is very friendly. Mel and Louise, the owners, treated us like family. All in my group said next year, Happy Holiday Homes! Tim

    Aqualung's stance on e commerce

Mike F:When I got certified, about my only source of dive info was the dive shop. The only real access I had to other divers was through the shop. They could have (and did) tell me just about anything and have me believe it. They were in control. It's not that way anymore. Mike, I think...

    Aqualung's stance on e commerce

All my equipment and students' equipment was Aqualung. Last spring I replaced my Seaquest BCD with a Dive Rite. In December I replaced my Aqualung Glacier with a Dive Rite 2500 Ice. Later this year I will replace 2 of my student regs and maybe a new computer for myself, they will not be AL. They...

    Bonaire diving navigation?

Navigation in Bonaire is a piece of cake. A typical dive goes something like this: Take a compass heading away from shore. Swim (underwater of course) to the reef. When neutraly bouyant, hang for a few seconds to see which way the current is going. Just before heading into the current, look...

    What to wear in Bonaire?

I wear a 3/2. We do 4 to 5 dives a day, so by the last dive of the day I may be a little chilled. If I was going to do just 2 dives a day I would take a skin. Tim

Who has had something stolen in Bonaire

I have been to Bonaire 5 times in the last 5 years and am leaving Feb 3 for another week. I personally have never lost anything. Last year we noticed a stepped up patroling of the dive sites by the police. Yes, theft is a problem, but it is here in the states too. I will say I have never...
