(Am I allowed to post this ?)
My wife and I live very close to Mexico City. At one point we were both weekend PADI instructors.
If you are planning a dive vacation to Mexico, consider taking some of our equipment home with you ! (It is all in excellent condition but should be serviced before...
Actually I believe we dove with Blue XT Sea perhaps 10 years ago - our last trip to Cozumel - it was run by some really sharp/organized girl. Good divemasters (at that time). We actually had some crazy dives. Dove steel 100s.
We have spent some time at Xcalak. The most memorable dive was out in...
Hi,
Living in Cuernavaca Morelos. I have some tanks that were last hydro'd/inspected in 2009. Was wondering what the rules for that were in Mexico. Same as the US ? Viz every year and Hydro every 5 ? Can anyone give me an idea for costs here in Mexico ?
Thanks
Cuernavaca Mexico :-) (Formerly Broward Cty Fla). If we were closer to a coast I think there would be some interest...
But - there is a fire dept - and they do have a dive team. Maybe I can get the tanks hydro'd here somewhere. There are dive shops in Mexico City - about an hour away.
I have not been diving in 5 years - I'm getting old and I live at 5800 feet.
I have 4 - PST Steel 100's in very good condition with boots and valves. Looks like the manufacture date is 2004 and the last hydro was in 2009.
What do you think is a fair price to ask for one of these tanks ? How...
My wife and I are getting a little too old to dive as often. At one point we were both PADI instructors. We always had our equipment professionally maintained - but I;m not sure we will ever use it (much) again. For the most part it is all Scubapro (mk25/s600/gauges), 4 steel 100's, Scubapro...
We lived in South Florida for over 30 years (now Mexico) and have many many dives off the Palm Beach/Broward coast.
Here's my suggestion :
- check out Captain Tony and his Island Hopper Diversity out of Deerfield Beach
- if you want to rent equipment visit Force E about 2 miles up Federal...
Hi,
We recently (Jan) left South Florida to settle (for the moment) to Cuernavaca.
I have four steel tanks that I removed the valves from for the drive.
I'd like to get them filled. Can anyone recommend a reputable dive shop within a couple hours drive.
Thanks
Anyone here familiar with this area ? We are moving to Cuernavaca in January and are planning on bringing our 4 steel 100's with us. I figure I need to remove the valves and was wondering if there is a dive shop in the area for fills etc. Are hydro's/visuals required in Mexico or are they a US...
Local pick-up only. Pompano Beach FL area. (I'll meet you half way up to 1 hour, if you take all three).
These have been sitting in the corner since they were hydro'ed (09/08).
That is the last time they were VIP'ed as well.
We used them alot in the 2004-2005 timeframe.
They have been well...
We picked up a pair of barely used steel tanks (PST 100s) this time last year which had Nitrox bands on them. We take VERY good care of our equipment. We just had our annual vip's and they removed the nitrox stickers. I'm glad they did because there was some pitting starting to develop.
Hmm - just a friendly question - what's the difference then if Dennis were to issue a diver their PADI Cavern specialty at the end of their week's vacation ? Either way they start out the week untrained.
Merry Christmas.
One thing which I don't think was mentioned yet - don't be surprised if a good guide takes you on an initial dive to assess your abilities. That's maybe something to consider if you are thinking of diving multiple locations (guides).
I'd recommend Chris Stanton in Tankah Bay (http://www.luckyfishdiving.com/). He's about 7km North of Tulum. He can take you to the Cenotes and the reef both of which were some of the best diving we've done. Really nice guy. Very personal/competent service.
He didn't get stuck but my dentist almost had to find another profession after a moray got ahold of his uppper arm when he stuck his arm in a hole going after a lobster. For me the lobster looper works just fine.
I've never seen it on a boat but I've been told that So. Fla. Diving Headquaters (Pompano) does alot with SNUBA. You could also check with Lighthouse Dive (same building).
For openers let me say that I am in no way second guessing / questioning any of the professionals involved in that incident. Having said that - if it were my wife in a similar situation on the same wreck (Sea Emperor) I would have brought her in the Boca Inlet and not taken the ride to...
My wife and I took the Whaler out this morning hoping to do some lobstering. We checked out the Balls, Datura and Captain Dan. The visibility was so bad we didn't jump in the water. At Datura we couldn't see the bottom in 10 feet of water. Kind of looks like a toilet.
