Went out on the Tuna Seazure on Sunday 7/11. Nice sunny day, the seas were about 2 ft. We were scheduled to go to the Mountain, but after a number of unsuccessful attempts to hook the wreck we moved on to the Boiler Wreck (aka the Copper Wreck). The wreck was in 80 feet of water. Water...
I went out on the Tuna Seazure to the Great Isaac and Double East on Wed. The conditions were perfect, sunny, clear, less than 3 ft seas. As usualy Capt. Bill got us out fast and the mate Bart got us tied in to the Isaac. Visibility was a good 30' and bottom temp was 49 degrees. It was my first...
As was stated earlier, the Navy may not be so quick to let you run off to BUD/S after dive school. I have seen divers become Seals though, so it can happen. Also and this is a biggie, if you go to BUD/S and don't make there is a real good chance you won't be going back to being a diver. I saw...
I attended a workshop he gave last month. I've also read about and heard a lot about him. He was pretty spot on with his problem solving theories in his workshop. He's definetly earned his stripes, but as was said what he does works for him and may not be the best option for everyone. That...
long trips, heavier boats, much shorter season I think all have to do with it. Considering I spend at least a $100 every time I walk in the dive shop (which is much more frequent than I go out on the boats), I don't sweat the boat fee too much.
As far as NJ being so expensive to live in...

Used to like Bobby Flay and Jack McDavid on "Grillin' and Chillin'"
Michael Lamonaco (don't see him much, he used to run "Windows on the World" atop the World Trade Center, now he has a Cuban restaurant that's really good.
Mario Battali is ok, I want to try his restuarants...
The only one I know of is Dive Assistant from www.blackwave.com. I tried an earlier version on my Axim but couldn't ever get it to work right. They have a newer version out that I downloaded that seems better, it also has a desktop component. I haven't had much chance to work with it, though...
The Tuna Seazure is a great boat and Mar-Vel is a great shop to go through. I'm not as fond of the Ursula to big and slow. I'm glad to see Mar-Vel got some dives on the Spring Tide too, now there's more choices.
Another vote for Chris Sawyer. I went out with them a year ago on the Rhone trip. It was a great dive. My wife also took a Discover Scuba class with them. I was impressed by the instructor and how much time he took with her to help her.
I have to throw a vote in for Jersey. I love diving here and I've dove in the Carribean and St. Lawrence River. This vis isn't that bad usually and the cold can be dealt with. Definetly give it a chance.
I would think/hope that your instructor will suggest taking a boat dive as part of your...
I got a Diving Concepts DuraFlex Tec suit last year. I got it custome fit because the price wasn't that much more. So far I really like the suit, it fits well, very durable (cordura covered) and the price was pretty good.
