    Diver Dead in South Florida

It's Monday morning and still nothing in the news. But , I believe it happened and it's just that it's not COVID or anti-Trump related it didn't make the local papers. Also many of the posters commenting on boat operation have never done drift diving in south Florida.

    Easy Diving Reachable from NYC?

What's wrong with drift diving? Never have to find your way back to the anchor line. When you surface, the boat comes to you.

    Easy Diving Reachable from NYC?

The bridge is one of if not the best NY (Long Island) shore dive sites. It is however tide sensitive, and from July 1 to Labor Day requires a Marine Park permit from the local town that they get $90 for

Mike Nelson and Sea Hunt inspires another

As I watch an episode recorded the other night, I think of all the "no no's" good ole Mike Nelson does and the unexplainable. He's in a closed room in a wreck. He has no light but has no problem seeing a small hatch to escape. The hatch is square he can get thru if he takes his tanks off, but...

    US Navy Experimental Diving Unit

back around 1969 I thought I might want to become a Navy diver. But, I would have had to commit to another 4 or 6 years of active duty (don't remember), plus I didn't think I had the "metal" to make it thru the program. as a result, it was another 25 years before I got certified.

New Jersey woman dead - Key West

Article says that she was reportedly an experienced diver with over a 100 previous dives. At 100 dives you are just "really" learning what you doing. Additionally if 100 dives are spread over several years that is NOT an experienced diver.

Mike Nelson and Sea Hunt inspires another

I am addicted to watching "Sea Hunt" (on DVR from "This TV ") as well as addicted to diving. As I watch it now , I realize just how hokie the stories are, how much misinformation is displayed and how chincie the production values were. Of course I will continue to watch.

    Near miss

I had a dive flag (which I was told was hit). Download of my computer showed that I dropped to 11 feet and yes I saw the bottom, prop and prop wash.

    Near miss

Last Sunday diving out of Boynton Beach Florida on a dive south of the inlet (around Delray) had a scary event. We were drift diving, after surfacing, I noted the dive boat to the south of me picking up other divers. I heard a roar in the distance to the north of me. This boat was headed my...

George Town, Grand Cayman diving opportunities

I think it was Grand Cayman Diving Tours that I was on thru Carnival last year. It was billed as the Kittywake and shallow reef. Turned out that I was the only one to sign up. When I got to the boat, they realized I was somewhat experienced and asked if I would prefer doing thee wall and...

Cruise-Friendly Dive Operators in Cozumel and Grand Cayman?

I used Barefoot once about 2 years ago, enjoyed the dives. But the next cruise that I went on arrived @10 am. Barefoot had boats that left at 10 and a later trip (as I remember) @2pm. Couldn't make the 10 am and couldn't make it back to ship on time from afternoon trip. Unfortunately no...
