    Feedback for new uw photographer

Excellent pics. Here is a suggestion to improve more: try and shot from the same level or below the critter. That nudi of yours might have been even more dramatic from a different angle. It's not always possible but just something to bear in mind. Keep shooting and posting!

    5060 problem with mode dial

I had to replace the mode dial on a 5050. You can get the part on ebay and fit it yourself - much cheaper than have Olympus do it. There was a great site that showed step by step how to do it. Can't remember it now but if you google I'm sure you'll find it. Think you should replace yours from...

    Help with C-8080

I think your setting should have been ok for subjects up to 3 or 4 feet from camera but it might be that you are getting the blue in images futher away than that because the strobe can't go that far? Try manual F5.6, 1/100th second in TTL mode with your strobe for close subjects (up to 2 feet)...

    Diving with contacts...

I dive with contacts and haven't had any real problems except 2 occasions when a lens fell out while i was underwater! These had nothing to do with flooding - they just fell out, as they occasionally do. These are rare occasions, however, and I wouldn't hestitate to recommend wearing them. Mine...

Hats off to Instructors - I don't know how you do it

Paschen said: "So hats off to Instructors and Guides who put up with wankers day in and day out." I couldn't possibly comment! ROFL! :D

    Greetings from 'sunny' Scotland

What do you mean the most redeeming feature is proximity to the Red Sea!!!!! Get yourself a dry suit and get out there and experience some proper diving. :D Welcome to the boards! ;)

    Photos from Little Cayman

aquamutt - a couple of suggestions - 15-20 feet is too far away even with a strobe. Try and get as close as you can to fill the frame. Also, to bring out the colours you are best to have a strobe or use the internal flash. there is only so much white balance can do, especially when you are...

    Narc Panic at depth

What had been your deepest dive before this dive? Also, you say you are technically rated to the intended depth but you were at 145 ft which is below the recreational limit and also the limit for AOW. Definitely sounds like narcosis but also, as netdoc says, the dive you did is not a dive for...

    Digital Delay

Alcina and Warren are both right in what they say. You do tend to start accommodating any lag with experience but it can be very frustrating. However, if you weigh up the benefits of digital against the disadvantages (which can be overcome), on balance a lot of us feel digital is worth any...

    Learning Underwater Photography

Couldn't agree more. And this applies to any dive course - the materials and outline are just the start. It's what the instructor does and the experience you have that makes the difference,
