Whole trip at Little Cayman or half at Grand Cayman?

Hi all! My husband and I are planning our yearly dive trip. We want to go back to Little Cayman (Pirates Point) for at least a week. Debating on spending some time on Grand Cayman also. On our last trip to the Cayman Islands we split time between Brac and Little Cayman. When on Cayman Brac the...

    Dorcy Dive II 220 Lumen

Just got back from our trip. We did three crepuscular (word of the week on the boat) dives and the 180's worked great. There was some flickering in the off position if you didn't have it off enough and the light got bumped, but it was not a nuisance. They were plenty bright, and I liked the...

    Dorcy Dive II 220 Lumen

Piranha just advised that they received 180's instead of 220's. Will be able to ship the 220's next month. Too bad my anual dive trip is before then. Anyone know if Dorcy got the right ones?

Has anyone been to Turquoise Bay, Roatan recently?

We stayed at TBR two years ago. The resort is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Our negatives were the restaurant and dive op. Food was so slow that we had had problems getting lunch between the morning and afternoon dives. The quality of the food was ok at best. Our complaint with the dive...

    Utila Aggressor January 16-23, 2010

coombsm... we have not done the Aggressor yet, but if you are considering land base options still we loved Utopia Dive Village. The on site Dive OP was great, and the rooms and food are top notch. Yes there are little beasties that bite in the evening, but just remember your deet and you'll...

    Utila Aggressor January 16-23, 2010

We just found out that the new boat won't be ready for our trip in Feb. Very dissapointed. Also there is a shortage of space for our group on the new boat. Does anyone have any experience with the quad cabin? How "cozy" is it. As it is two couples will have to share it.

    Earthquake felt underwater

We did not notice any behavior changes in the fish. We were looking at each other, wide eyed, with a "what the heck was that" look on our faces! No one could confirm at the shop whether they felt it, one person said maybe. Brian

    Earthquake felt underwater

I did a couple of searches and did not find much about them... This happened in Roatan last week. 10 minutes into the 1st dive of the day, about 45' depth. Everyone heard a loud boom, accompanied by what I would describe a shutter through our bodies. We all stopped and looked around at...

    Bay Islands Report

Hello All We just got back from 2 weeks in Utila and Roatan. Week one was in Utila at Utopia Dive Village. It was a wonderful place with wonderful people there to make the stay perfect. Three owners on the premises helps a lot, and you can tell they care and make sure that all the...

    Ferry to Utila

Ok I think we figured it out. The price was really $244. It was for RT/PP. We had asked for the One Way, I "assumed" thats what it was. So at $122/pp one way I guess thats not so bad. Next time I'll pay more attention before posting. Brian

    Ferry to Utila

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to hear "mabey an hour", or "sure no problem, plenty of time". I guess we will buy the plane ticket, as we really want to be diving that next morning and already have to overnight in Houston. Brian

    Ferry to Utila

Hello all... We are going to Utila in April and are arriving in San Pedro Sula at 10:58am on Continental. I saw another post showing the Ferry leaves from La Cieba at 2:00pm. Is that enough time to get through customs and cab it over? About how far away is the terminal? I was quoted...

    Trip Report, PartII, Little Cayman

There is still a lot of visible damage on Grand Cayman, though I believe the hotels and points of interest for tourism are open. We did not stay there, so do some searching, or start another thread. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are fine. You have to look pretty hard to find the damage.

I must admit we take a lot of the good with a little of the bad. People plan fishing trips to Alaska a year in advance. I usually call a couple of buddies on Thursday...

    Trip Report, PartII, Little Cayman

I agree, a non-diver looking for something to do would be pretty bored. A non-diver just looking for a relaxing week with a book or five, would be in heaven. Brian
