If you have to ask.............. stay away from them, you're not ready.

    Sea & Sea MM-II past 150'

Has anybody ever exceeded the rated depth of 150' for a sea & sea MM-II? There are some pics I would like to take but they are at 165'. I don't want to take a chance and ruin my camera, but I am guessing that they are probably somewhat conservative on their depth rating. Thanks,

What dive computer is in YOUR future?

I currently dive with a vyper, which I love, just don't do a deep deco dive with it or you will pay heavily, (long deco). And if you blow your stop, no computer for 48 hrs. (I followed my tables, not my computer) Make sure you switch it to gauge mode "before" the dive. Oh well, live and...

    Toss DUI boots?

Here's my secret, and believe me, I've even received compliments from dui rock boot guys. Look for a pair of canvas high top sneakers, (like the converse or Keds). They are none bouyant, and are more durable than any dive boot. I found a really cheap pair of "no-name" brand shoes from...

    which regs??

Ah, come on Dave, you already know the answer to this one. Scubapro breathes the easiest out of all these, but is way overpriced for what you get. Keep your oceanic for the pool, and get the apex, or even the zeagles for that matter, for your other setup. The apex and zeagle is a tried and...

    Serious drysuit question!

Yo Jimbo, Don't forget that you can get anything from a lightweight shell to 7mm neoprene for a wetsuit. All offering varying degrees of insulation value. You can also dress accordingly underneath the suit. When you are diving deep, no matter what the water temp is, your wetsuit will offer...

    Bare XCD2 First Impressions

I finally recieved my CDX suit, and it's true, these have got to be the most useless pockets ever. If anyone is interested in getting this suit, take Tom's advice and order it without pockets and get some different ones put on. I do believe that this should warrant a call to Bare and let them...

    Conservative Suunto

I would have to second what YMY says. Also, look at your profile. Two dives at 100' for 30min, a definate deco dive! The suunto's are great computers, and they are not as conservative as people think. However, if you dive agressively, (i.e. push the depth/time limits, too fast of an ascent...

Hydro Space / Abysmal Explorer computer

This may be more of a question for the tek section, but I'll try it here first. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has used (or even heard of!) the HS Explorer Tri-mix computer. Check it out at http://www.oxycheq.com/HS_Explorer.html It looks like it may be a good one, but you...

    Bare XCD2 First Impressions

I wish I had of know about the weight and the pockets earlier, I just ordered one about 3 days ago. My old suit was a bi-lam suit, so the increased weight is going to be a big issue. Does anyone know if you can get other pockets put on? How bad are the pocket that are with it? Can you at...

    Tired of DIR

DIR is needed for all those who cannot think for themselves! The DIR philosophy is good, and it works, but it is not the only way to dive. Adopt it to fit your own style of diving.

    For you vyper fans

looked on the suunto website and could not find anything about a vytec. I would really like to know more about this, where can I find some specs and price about it? thanks Aquanut

    vyper for deco dives

Need some input from anyone who uses their vyper for deco dives. I have recently started doing deco dives and have been using my suunto vyper in gauge mode, which works fine. However, after a weekend of deco dives, I wanted to do a shallow dive using computer mode. It would not allow me to...

    Mt. Everest of Diving

Well GP, (and Warren) A British fellow just made 1000' +, ( I think it was 1040') on open circuit. OK, I have to run to the bookshelf to get the facts. nov 26, 2001, John Bennett dived to 1010'. Hang time was a planned time of 8hrs but was extended by 1.5hrs due to complications on his...

    tech fins of choice

IMHO, just stay away from split fins. The dive rite site had a good article posted on their site about split fins. Some tried and true fins: scuba pro jet, force fins, mares quattro are good fins but the heel strap can be a pain to don and doff, especially when you have a full rig on.
