    Carry Options

This may sound like a silly question, but I never dive with a light. I am planning a trip to Destin and in typical fashion, when I plan a trip I buy more gear ;). I bought a small torch light (Intova compact) and I bought a GoPro. I am building an aluminum tray for the GoPro and also bought an...

    Lower Back Pain

I was looking though my old threads and came across this. I thought I would update it. The back pain returned out of the blue several months after. It was much worse than before. I got an MRI and discovered that I had a degenerated disk. Been on and off ever since. I have been lifting weights...

    Thanks for the recommendations

Ah! I knew I probably had it wrong. Kelly was taking pics and the viz was not ideal. She tended to lag behind and I did not want her to get out of sight so I held up from time to time to make sure she was OK. Plus, everyone was moving a bit in the current. She is a great diver, wish I could dive...

    Thanks for the recommendations

I didn't actually post a request for recommendations, but you don't have to do you. I found Kevin at Underwater a common theme here. I am in Orlando this week and went down on Tuesday and dove with them. Great guy, great group, great dives. In all my blue water dives, I have never seen a...

    Balmorhea in Feb

I am taking a trip to Balmorhea in mid Feb and and curious what sort of wetsuit I will need. I was thinking a 5mm and possibly a hood should do. Anyone have a recommendation?

    Good Cheap Dive Watches

Yeah, I did the same thing, well sort of. My Sieko bit the dust so I was looking for a cheap replacement. I went to Wal Mart and picked up a Timex Ironman 200m watch. It was $30. It has both a countdown timer, and a stopwatch. I set the count down timer to the dive table bottom time. I use...

    Liberal vs Conservative

My conclusion is that I need to put more emphasis on planning the dive and keeping track the good ole fashion way. I have not done a lot of seriously challenging dives so to date, its been relatively easy to do. And since I dont have a computer it's all I have. That said, my dives are rarely...

    Liberal vs Conservative

I definately do not intend to play chicken with DCS. I just want to understand the pros and cons of the differences among these computers. All the responses have been great. Do you all rely on the computer for NDL, or do you plan your dive, dive your plan and refer to your computer for...

    Liberal vs Conservative

No, this is not a thread of political nature :) I have been researching computers, because I am in the market for one, and have some observations. I have narrowed down my choices to Uwatec, Aeris and Suunto. I am leaning on cutting Uwatec because of some recent threads I have read that...

Just got back from San Diego

I got a chance to dive out there and it was a great experience. I would encourage any of you who travel out there to be sure and schedule a dive. Water was cold at 60 degrees so that, a 7mm suit, hood and gloves took some getting used to. I had 32 lbs of weight too! Boyancy was a little...

    Texan visiting San Diego

Well, my flight was delayed and I missed the boat to the kelp. I did make it in time for the boat to the Coronado Islands. Dove Lobster Shack and La Mesa. I just want to say I had a great time, and great experience. I met good people and will make a point to come back and dive the cold...

Diving again after a 4 year hiatus

You might consider a skin or 3mm suit for protection from the coral and other stinging critters. R

Diving again after a 4 year hiatus

Mmmm steak! I was in the same boat, no pun intended, in 2000. I was out for about 8 years. I went on a cruise and took a resort (PADI Scuba Diver) course on the ship. This year I did it again. I had not dove since 2000 and wanted to get back into it. Plus, I went on another cruise and...

    Texan visiting San Diego

Yeah, I figure it will be cold. I reserved a 7mm rental with hood for the dives. I am a wuss when it comes to cold water :)

    Texan visiting San Diego

Hi All, I am visiting San Diego on and diving on August 1st. I booked a Kelp dive with Dive Connections. I am an SSI OW certified diver with warm water dives only. The thickest suit I have had to don is 5mm in our local lake. I am very comfortable in the water and have been eight dives...

    Lower Back Pain

Thanks to all for the great information. My back has made much improvement. I spent some evenings on the heating pad and I have very little pain left. I think I will add some excersises to help my back in the gym. Randy

    Lower Back Pain

Thanks for the quick responses! I did do the hump down the hill and back up with a single steel twice. I thought it might have been the tubing, however it is odd that I did not feel the stiffness untill 24 hours after the tube ride. I will monitor the pain and pay close attention. Should I...

    Lower Back Pain

Hi All, I went to the lake for a couple of dives on the 4th (7/4). No computer, doing it by the table. We mis-calculated and exceeded the table by a bit. Here is the profile: Dive 1: Part 1: Max Depth 35' for 10 minutes. Surfaced for 10 minutes Part 2: Max Depth: 50' TBT: 40...

    Best Dive Watch Ever...

I got a Seiko back in '92. It finally quit on me. I need to get it repaired. Got a Times Iron Man from Wal-Mart for $30. Works great. Has both a chrono timer and count down timer, and glows in the dark! R.
