    Mustaches, Beards & Face Masks

Always dived with a moustache - the amount of leakage can vary greatly by mask. I bought an expensive mask to see if I could eliminate the slight leaking from my no-name mask. It leaked so much I've never used it - went back to my no-name one that usually stops leaking on its own about...

    Faber Lp 104's?

I have one & technically, it's a 108. It's huge, but when I'm diving with someone else who has a better breathing rate & a smaller tank, it's great to have along.

    Scubapro VS Zeagle.

Very satisfied Zeagle Flathead VI user. For what it's worth, my LDS sells both brands. Owner dives Scubapro, but often recommends Zeagle as a better value for the money.

    good computer for collecting data

Yes, you have to remember your start & end air pressure, then enter the values manually - It's become so routine for me I forgot to mention it.

    good computer for collecting data

Another alternative for logging data is the SENSUS Ultra. I have the earlier Pro & you have to download it to see the data, but I can download it both to my laptop and my Palm. I have over 100 dives recorded at 10 second intervals, and still have room for more. The current production Ultra...

    Dive watch???

I alternate between my Luminox and a Citizen Hyper-Aqualand.

Are there any scuba programs for a Palm OS?

I have used the Sensus Pro, and their software from Reefnet to upload my dive profiles to my Palm. Works nicely, saves having to lug around a computer, and can be done minutes after each days dives.

Royal Caribbean Shore Excursion-Cozumel in December

Guess I made a good choice to only dive Cozumel and Roatan. Thanks for the information.

Royal Caribbean Shore Excursion-Cozumel in December

I will be diving Cozumel and Roatan from the Royal Carribean Voyager of the Seas next month. After an unwilling three year dry spell (there's not much diving in Iraq), I'm not anticipating much more than a good refresher, and getting wet again after too much time. Prices at both ports for the...

Diving the Great Blue Hole Belize from Carnival Glory

Did the Belize Blue Hole from the Agressor. It was an interesting dive (to 148 feet), but not something I'd come a great distance to do by itself. I enjoyed the reef life on the rest of the trip more. If I do the Belize Agressor again, I'll include the Blue Hole another time. Otherwise, I...

    Nekton Cruise

I did the Rorqual off Mona Island in 2005, and had a good time. The Aggressor line is much nicer - and more expensive. Yes, I got a good deal on my Mona trip, but I still have an overall positive impression of that excursion (without taking price into consideration). I'm not sure I was so...

    Problem guests on a liveaboard

Guess I have been fortunate. I saw one self-professed photographer drop $5000 of photo equipment over a wall because he couldn't equalize. Other than that, all of the live-aboards I've been on have been big enough to get any needed privacy. Of course, spending lots of time in the water with...

    Liveaboards in the Caribbean

Did the Belize Agressor, and loved it. 28 dives in one week, and others on the boat did more. I would highly recommend it. The main advantage is that it spends more time on the outer reefs (which are dived less overall). Water was bathtub-warm, and 60-80ft. clear.

    Good basic wrist computer

Another vote for the Gekko as a first computer, that also works great as a back-up later on.

Suunto product roadmap... OR should I buy a D9 now?

Another option in the Suunto line is the Stinger. I wear mine full-time on dive trips, as my watch as well as my dive computer. I prefer the look of the Stinger to the D9 - but that is a matter of personal choice. The Stinger has been around for many years, and does not have the latest...

What do you call the 1 ft metal pokers divers carry?

This entire discussion has been very illuminating - and I will continue to use what I hope is the right tool for the right situation. I have seen heartbreaking times when fellow divers have chewed up coral with their fins, and I have thanked more experienced divers for teaching me how to...

    Nitrox - 1.40 or 1.60 PO2?

My computer is set at 1.40. If I was younger and in better physical shape and etc., I would be OK with 1.60. It all depends on how big a safety margin you are comfortable with. I'm happy now with my Suuntos (conservatism and all). I have a friend who, in an earlier time pushed 1.80. He is...

    Stinger strap failures?

I replaced the rubber strap on my Stainless Stinger as soon as I bought it, and have had no issues at all with the Waterbourne strap I've used on it since. I recently picked up a titanium Stinger (with titanium strap), but have not dived it yet. I have had a rubber strap on my Citizen Hyper...

    Suunto Mosquito Vs Gekko

You can always get your download capacity from a Sensus Ultra - which I have used in preference to the downloads from my Stinger.
